The Lacrosse Spotlight

Features

Sparked by the recent Duke controversy related to top level athletes and their indiscretions, I started thinking about the damage that it would do to the sport, the representation of some of the nation’s top Lacrosse athletes and the impact on the boys that want to become college Lacrosse players. I then thought, "Enough people are already talking about the ‘damage’, what is more important is how small a group this is."

Easlake vs. Skyline Game Recap

Features

Another game with two undefeated teams tied for first place in the division.  Eastlake and Skyline are just down the street from each other and look to be forming a very nice rivalry.

The Mercer Island Bellevue game felt like the calm before a huge storm last night before the game began. Only a few people showed up for pre-game except for the two very focused teams on the carpet.

The long anticipated meeting between last year’s championship match-up Bainbridge Island and Lakeside happened Wednesday on Lakeside’s turf. Likely a tough battle, Bainbridge came away victorious with a 9-4 win. Scoring was spread out amongst the Bainbridge attack with Colbi Brawner leading the way with 3 goals in addition to her 5 ground balls. Jane Baumgartner also played a fabulous game with 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 ground balls, 1 turnover and 1 draw control! Bainbridge’s defense only allowed Lakeside 9 shots compared to Bainbridge’s own 21 shots on goal. Lakeside’s Lisa Baldini led her team with 3 controlled draws, 3 caused turnovers, 3 ground balls and a goal. Gracie Binder played a strong defensive game, while Brett Eisenhart scored an additional 2 goals for Lakeside.

Mercer Island vs Issaquah recap

Features
Mercer Island vs. Issaquah:
A startling upset happened last night at Issaquah High School. Undefeated since their State Championship loss in 2003 to powerhouse Bainbridge Island, Mercer Island lost the contest in what appeared to be a fairly one dimensional offensive game in both directions.
