To WIAA or not to WIAA, that is the question

To go with the new article on the WSLA submitting a petition on WIAA we thought we'd see what people think about this issue - not just for the girls side of lacrosse but boys also.

Most people have an opinion on WIAA and what it would do to, or for, WA in lacrosse. It's obvious that there are many benefits and possible disadvantages also so this is your forum for discussion on this subject.

What do you think?

wiaa

it will take a successful journey for the girls and a lot of girls teams where boys teams are before wiaa accepts the boys, because of a thing called Title 9! I wish the girls good luck, but I think the guys are going to be club for a while, maybe even 5 - 10 years. Yes they are growing like crazy and will continue to do so, BUT, the boys need the success of the girls more than they know!

yes

i cannot tell you how much more attention lacrosse would get i mean you dont realize how hard it is to do anything like get new fields and all that just because itsa club ... not to mention that not that many atheletes, (athelets with extreme potential) play because of the RIDICULOUS costs i mean maybe its just my school. Not to mention the sport doesnt get the recognition it deserves once again maybe just @ my school but it seems more people haev heard of golf and tennis than a lacrosse team.

well the ladies sound like

well the ladies sound like theyre having a little trouble handling the business themselves.. so if they need the WIAA for support, then thats legit. The guys however are still growing without issue, so we may as well just wait a couple more years until it puts less stress on the WIAA and we have way more teams at schools with different classifications. Hopefully by then we will have enough school aligned club teams so that no players will have to leave their club team to play for their own school.
