Visco is the man, there is more to the game than just raw talent. Best Effort are more valuable than where u played in College.

What makes a great coach?

Are you voting for the coach of your program or are you voting for the person you think brings unique qualities to this position?  What makes a great coach, is it a winning record or is it the relationship they have with their players?  What do you think.

Best coaches

I think it is a little of both, But there is also the coaches relationship with the greater community. Does the coach attract interest in his program from his community (youth programs), do his players honor the game. Looking at one of the most successful programs in the country, West Genesee, NY. The head coach credits his teams success to the involvement of the community in the program from the first years in the youth program through Varsity. That is what makes a great coach. From what I've seen the two best coaches in the area are Ian O"hearn, and John Baumann. However, it will be interesting to see how Anthony Spinnelli at Skyline builds his youth programs.

Best Coaches

I think you are favoring the coaches from the East Coast a little bit to much on this. No offence to any of those guys, they are all great coaches. But there are local guys coaching that are just as good as them. If you are talking about involvement in your program and building a program, look at Brandon Fortier of Issaquah. He has taken his program from a small start up team, to a team that has had such a large group of middle school and high school players that they had to break off and form another team (Skyline).

Brandon

I agree with you on this point. Brandon has done an amazing job with the youth programs and, obviously, taking Issaquah from DII champ to DI contender in a very short period of time. It's nice to see the east coast influence, though. I think they bring a different perspective. Here, lacrosse is pretty far down the list of things to do in the spring. It would be nice to bring it to the top.
