2007 Summer Leagues

2007 Summer League Registration Is Now Open!

The Walax Summer league enters its 10th year of Summer Lacrosse this summer; we can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Last year was our most popular and successful summer league to date so we’ve introduced a couple of new options for players this year, which should heighten your summer league experience. This summer our summer leagues sessions will play on turf fields on the East side and the West side.

Last year we split our sessions into Beginner/Intermediate and Advanced/Elite sessions. This was so successful that we will continue the same format this year. At Marymoor Park, Field 3 will be designated the Advanced/Elite field and Field 4 will be for the Beginner/Intermediate players.
For the Fresh/Soph and Elite Divisions we introduce the ultimate in summer league experiences. The East v West Championships are open to individual sign-ups as well as team submissions.  Teams will be decided based on your boundary designation (see below) and play in a league style format with the top 2 teams from each division coming together at the end of the summer for a championship evening. Winners get their team name on the summer league trophy, be listed on our site as champions and get a very limited edition champions T-shirt, plus there’s the bragging rights that go with it of course.

Players from these teams should sign up for their designated location.  If you are not on the list, please email us and we'll advise your location.  Please only sign up for your designated location, we will be checking existing rosters and will move incorrectly registered players to their correct location.

For our Marymoor Location - Both fields will host the same age groups allowing us to constantly evaluate and move players back and forth based on their skills. For example, beginner 5/6 and advanced 5/6 will play at the same time but on separate fields. Players may move up to the advanced session without impacting travel arrangements or rides.

We’re really looking forward to working with you all again this summer. Summer league is so much more than an hour long lax session. It’s a great opportunity to hang out with friends, make new friends who play on teams you may never get to play with otherwise, enjoy the summer weather and throw the ball around. College players will be back to coach high school players as well as established coaches from around Seattle.

Here is a full breakdown of the summer league programs available. We define the beginner and intermediate classes as players with two (2) or less years of experience. Our advanced sessions are for those with two (2) or more years playing experience who understand fundamentals of the game, and can catch and throw with both hands. The Elite High School league is for all High School D1 and D2 Varsity players. If you are unsure about the level to sign up for please drop us an email. Once signed up, if we find that a player should be moved up or down to a different league we will discuss this with the player, and help make the best decision for the player prior to any move. Our aim is to make sure each player enrolled gets the best coaching or playing experience for their current skills and coaching needs.

Beginner Programs
1st and 2nd Grade Co-ed Beginners
A beginner class aimed at teaching the fundamentals to new players. A mix of fun games, basic skills work and drills. We rotate the activities frequently to best suit their attention span at this age and ensure all kids not only learn lacrosse but have a really fun time in the process. We try to keep the coaching ratio around 6 players to a coach depending on the level of the class.   Players will not need equipment for the first class.

3rd and 4th Grade Boys Fundamentals
A beginner class aimed at teaching the fundamentals but also building on existing skills that some of these players may have. As with the 1st and 2nd grade class the sessions will be a mix of fun games, basic skill work and drills. Activities are again rotated regularly so everyone has a great experience.  Players will not need equipment for the first class.

5th and 6th Grade Boys Beginners/Intermediate
Like the younger classes, 5/6 graders will also be taught in a clinic like format for the first two weeks, playing a game every week after that with coaching throughout. We will have no less than 3 coaches and preferably 4 on hand at all times to ensure our players get the most out of each session.

7th and 8th Grade Boys Beginners/Intermediate
Beginning 7th/8th graders will see individual instruction followed by coached game play each week. We will have no less than 3 coaches and preferably 4 on hand at all times to ensure our players get the most out of each session.

9th – 10th Grade Boys Beginner/Intermediate
Beginning High School players will get instruction in team and individual concepts and game play. We will have better than a 10 to 1 player to coach ratio at all times to ensure our players get the most out of each session.

Advanced Programs
All teams will be chosen from registered players with a maximum of 24 players per team.  Get an opportunity to play with other great players you normally play against!

5th and 6th Grade Boys Advanced
Advanced 5th and 6th grade will have coaches and an official on hand for each game. Players will be assigned a team they will play with for the duration of the summer league. Each team will be assigned a coach who will work with them each week.

7th and 8th Grade Boys Advanced
Advanced 7th and 8th grade will have coaches and an official on hand for each game. Players will be assigned a team they will play with for the duration of the summer league. Each team will be assigned a coach who will work with them each week.

Freshman/Sophomore League
New for this year is the Fresh/Soph league. Aimed at experienced players who are not beginners and not quite the Elite league. Again players will be assigned to teams and play competitive games each week with other fresh/soph summer league teams. Each team will work with their coach while and referee will officiate each game. This is a great opportunity to play with players of a similar skill level while getting the opportunity to work on and improve their skills with our coaches.

Elite HS Boys
Back to back games on Thursday night on the Eastside at Marymoor and Wednesday nights for those participating in the West side, we will be accepting both single player enrollment and teams for this league.  Officials and coaches will be on hand for this league.

Men’s 17+ Elite League
New night and new location.  We listened to your feedback and have moved this to Marymoor and will run on a weeknight, keeping Fridays free for your friends and family. Come play with returning Alumni on your favorite team, as well as team buddies. All games back to back, 20 minute running quarters with officials before heading over to the Workshop.  These teams will be based from a draft conducted by the Coaches of each Summer League team.

Men's "Just Want to Play" League
In the past, we have run Men's 'C' league for old rusty players, young inexperienced or new players and everything in between. As the Men's League gets more competitive, this league becomes more inclusive allowing players from all levels of play.  B league and C league players alike.  This should also include League players who just want to play and have fun over the summer with buddies as well.

How do I register?
Once you’ve decided which league you’d like to register for then click on that league name below. This will take you to our new registration system. It will ask all new people to register, this will give you a username and password which you can use to manage the leagues that you sign up for. This user name and password is not the username and password you use to access the walax site. You will need to create a new one for the registrations system.

New for 2007 is the Walax Gold Membership. This is a option that will be offered to you when registering on the system, but it is not mandatory. The gold membership costs $35 and entitles the member to 10% off all Walax programs for 1 year. This means if you are planning to sign up for our outdoor fall or indoor winter leagues you want to consider becoming a Gold member. Once you are a gold member, the program price will automatically show the discount on your summer league registration.

If you do not wish to become a gold member just continue to follow the registration process but don’t choose the gold membership when offered. This will register you on the system as a non-member and list the summer league at it’s full price.
Finally, if you'd prefer to register manually with a check then send us an email and we can handle that separately.
