Eastside Catholic is considering making a team for next year in D2! What do you guys think of it?
No way
Its better to to keep divisions smaller and more competitive. Its just a waste of time for everyone if you bring to many teams on
sure
there just going to lose anyway...
ya thats what they said
ya thats what they said about skyline..an lynnwood..
lol
Lynnwood's first year was a joke they went 2-10. They're only better this year because they got Casey Bloomquist from Mukilteo and Alex Burns from Nathan Hale. I've said it before and will say it again those two combined for 40% of the total points Lynnwood had this year. Lynnwood will not go 12-0 in regular season next year.
yes
It doesnt matter where the other options are for their players. New teams, regardless of if they will be strong or weak, are the best thing for growth of lacrosse in washington
No team.
No team.
They are close enough to feed into a already new skyline program, i know several kids who are attending or will be attending already play for skyline.
they can't have THAT many people joining lacrosse can they? plus if skyline isn't an option eastlake is half a mile down the hill.
eastside catholic is not the
eastside catholic is not the only team in consideration for a team next year. Eastside lacrosse may be spilting up. The school that the new club will take is not offical but will be a northshore high school. There is alrdy a feeder system for this high school team with northshore 7/8 and northshore 5/6
mikey lange and dan gockel!
mikey lange and dan gockel! there for sure going to win state
i dunno if they should make
i dunno if they should make a team
Feeder Program
They should have a team. But, going Varsity's not the answer. The quickest way to a solid, competitive program is to build a feeder system. Starting with 7 & 8th grade team of ECHS-bound kids next year puts them on a track to go Frosh/JV the following year (2008) and be a solid D-2 team of 9-10th graders the year after and then quickly to D-1 with MS, JV programs to continue the flow.
All that assumes their AD wants the drain on limited field and $$ resources (and baseball, track, soccer athletes) while building a new campus.
Feeder
It would be hard to set up a feeder program because it's a private school.
Feeder Program
They have MS feeder programs for football and basketball.
who are u? and how do u know
who are u? and how do u know so much about eastside catholic?
i dont want them to......
skyline loses players then........
EC
so i haven't heard of any of those people. the carltons? lange? gockel? also, 4 people do not make a team, you have to be solid at every position.
so the way i see it, it's great that eastside catholic is making a team, but they won't win D2 next year. if they go .500 i'll be impressed/surprised.
skyline was new
is that what you expected from skyline?
yeah, kind of
i expected them to be our biggest competition in the evergreen conference, which they were. especially because skyline pwns at football so i always think of good sports when i think of skyline.
also, im happy for eastside catholic that they have a team, but how many of the other new teams next year are on here bragging about how they are gonna win state next year?
no new teams bragged about
no new teams bragged about how there going to win state!
look at
look at the posts right below this?
YEAH!
Yeah dude, they'll probably go to State cause the Carlton twins (from Skyline) go to eastside and I heard they have secret weapons.....Dan Gockel and Mikey Lange!
agreed
I guaruntee if ECHS makes a team it will go to state without a doubt and have a perfect record.
It's good that they make a
It's good that they make a new team because the whole point of washington lacrosse is to get as many teams as possible. They'll be competitive too. Partly because they'll be a varsity sport something other than Overlake and Skyline no other team in the state is. Being a varsity sport will help them recruit players within in the school more easily. The only reason Overlake is at all competitive at this point is because of that reason the highschool only has 250 people but for years they've been competitive.
V programs
More teams where kids can learn lax at the appropriate level is good for the sport. 25 new kids jumping in at the V-level - D2 or not, can be demoralizing. Starting a group of 8th graders or Freshman and playing at the frosh level is a great way to learn fundementals and be competitive - then move up to D2 Varsity , etc.
Also, I believe MI, BI, Lakeside, Overlake, Curtis are V programs.
