Calling all Monday morning quarterbacks - The final scores have just come in and another season draws to a close. Give us your feedback on the Championships, the games, the players. What or who really stood out? What didn't ? What could you watch over again and what you would pass on given the choice? You tell us!
best bainbridge team in a while?
this is debateable, im not saying they're not, but you can't just say they were a ton better than last years team, because they just didn't have the compitition they had in years past. and you know that they missed a player like willy d who could take over a game on the offensive side, where as this year masi was the only guy to do it consistently. though the d was able to improve as the three now juniors matured and grew (both physically and mentally). as for best BI team, im going to have to go with 03, just too many good players.
Bring Back the Middle School Championships!
Championship day attendance was down, gee, why is that given the tremendous growth of Lacrosse in our state?………The answer..... middleschoolers had no connection to the day. Girls and exhibition games were the majority of the day. LAME! This event could be the peak of the season for all of the kids pre-high school to see what the best are doing, but yet this segment of the WA state players was woefully underrepresented. How sad! Make the “Championships day” a day of good quality Lacrosse, several of the 7/8 teams would have given those DII teams a run.

Tacoma
Wow, Tacoma is a great D2 lacrosse team...but, they have no class whatsoever and it was evidident where it comes from. It seemed like they couldn't get a call all day when in actuallity, it was pretty even. I did see late in the game, when Tacoma had a three or four goal lead, and it was obvious they had all the control and momentum, A bad call, and Tacomas coach went crazy, being held back by an assistant! But, congrats to them because like I said, they were the best team in D2 this year no doubt.
Tacoma
I think Tacoma has the right to complain when Puyallup is handed a goal. Not to mention that at one point Mosier stopped running down field to complain about a call. Tacoma also is able to get over the calls and do stuff like score shorthanded and beat a 6-3
Coaching
The biggest problem I saw was Tacoma's coach. In many situations he acted immature in my opinion, and even caused a penalty against Tacoma if I remember correctly. Several times throughout the game you would see Lions that were on the field trying to calm down their coach so they wouldn't get more penalties. To me thats unacceptable.
yes
did you see when tacoma was handed the trophy...he pretty much snatched it out of the hands of whoever was handing it to HIS TEAM...and then held it up high in the middle of the team and was center stage...instead of letting his team, and gilson be the ones who were center stage. Am i reading too much into this, maybe, but all the signs are there...with the penalty against him and everything else, is it all aout him?
you are reading too much
you are reading too much into it...
no
I don't think so. I have watched him a few times and it is all the same. He complains when things get physical, when his team is dominating, he then laughs at the other team, it is just all around poor sportsmanship. no more to say on him anyways, it is a waste of my time!
ok
well clearly, that makes it all about him. and if he complains when things get physical then he must never shut up because lacrosse is a physical game!
what are you talking about
what are you talking about when in the game did Moser stop and start complaining to the refs, i have never seen a team that complained more to the refs than tacoma they stop and whine about every little call. And that goal in the D2 championships everyone was talking about as controversial wasnt controversial at all it clearly hit the post and hit the inside of the net off the bounce.
Tacoma
Complaining....if Tacoma would do like Moser did and the one person just complain a little, it would be alright.
Respecting the stripes is important.
This is the only team I have seen where the players are consistantly either disagreeing with a call the ref made, or making a call themselves - distracting the refs and opposing players but officially the game is still in play.
This behavior isn't being done to ensure a fair game because the numerous personal & technical fouls the refs didn't call on their players, the fair one's would make the penalty call on themselves.
R O O T S!!!!!
Tacoma
What stood out about Tacoma the most: is whenever they didn't like a call one of the Ref's made on them and/or if the Ref's didn't call something Tacoma thought they should make a call on Puyallup for, the Tacoma players all start getting upset, raising their arms as their whining.
Definately something we could pass on in Lacrosse!!!!!
MI Gameplan
For those who watched the championship game, it would seem obvious that in tough games mi's only players are bowen and mahoney. bowen played outstading goalie but the team seemed to exclude mahoney in the second half. he was not being locked off of so why didnt he get the ball. basically bi deserved to win because it is a team full opf players not just one superstar. even so, ohearn blew by not forcing the ball into the boygenius mahoney's hands. MI in the...
k..
you shouldn't talk smack to MI without knowing the whole story. If you didn't notice, Greg didn't go for the gbs and didn't run as fast as he usually does. The fact is he hurt his ankles (sprained, bruised) and was playing through the pain the whole game. If he was healthy, the game could've been closer though not necessarily won. Anyways, this Bainbridge team has been the best in a long time and I congratulate them for coming on top.
and it certainly wasn't just
and it certainly wasn't just mahoney doing the work. all the MI players gave it there all and played their hearts out. mad props to the freshman who performed. Beckwith and Raffety. Bainbride just out hustled them. it was a great game and they were definety the top teams in the state, bainbridge just came out on top.
Sounds like it was a great
