Best Home Field Advantage?

Boy's Leagues

Who has the best home field advantage? Vashon?

Out of hand/not on track

I know this thread hasnt been commented on in a week but I feel that it wasnt rightly put to an end. (Seeing as team rivalries seem to be broken out between players on their respective teams).

Anyways, I would have to say that in terms of 'Best Home Field', Curtis has an amazing facility with nice turf, nice seats (metal, but better than wood), and even clean bathrooms.

But as to 'Best Home Field Advantage' I'd have to say Maple Valley or Garfield. Bear with me on this one. Although Maple Valley's disappointing season may throw some people off, I can say that some of their pre-game (and fan) routines are a bit unusual. As a player and a spectator of many games in many stadiums, I know that being in Maple Valley's presence is always somewhat menacing. Known as 'brutish' and 'foul-mouthed' by many, MV lives up to this reputation both on and off the field. Their players hit hard, both legally and illegally. Their fans are loud both for the good of the team (cheering and such) and for the bad (going too far... penalties on the in-home etc.) The music they play before the game ranges from Slayer to 70s pop/rock. I know that as a player in these games, I didnt find myself scared, but more out of focus. Yeah, their flowery shorts get a few laughs as well.

As for Garfield, they have a decent field, decent fan base, and decent players. Many people flock to these games because of the two All-Americans on their team (Snider and Montoya) and the all around good lacrosse that happens. I think that its mostly intimidation and the aura that revolves around Snider and the whole team that sets Garfield apart from any other team.

Oh yeah and Gillax, why do you say Vashon? Are you from there? I dont think that their stands are really up to par, but they do play appropriate music (fast beat techno, hard rock, rap) for a lacrosse game and their fans are definately loud.

Anyone agree?

Memorial again

you have no respect for memorial. its not about sitting down in the wooden seats because its about playing on the field. and the field turf actually happens to be better than most other high school fields because it is newer and because it has to host more high school sports teams than any other field and more money was put into the turf

no

Qwest or Quest or however-you-spell-it field is the best. how can you people even consider a high-school field with a professional sport complex. probably because you havent played on it. i have, and i tell ya, its an experience like no other

Why thank you # 8. DII just

Why thank you # 8. DII just quite isnt up to par yet is it.

adfasdf

Memorial Stadium has horrible wooden seats that give you barely enough room to sit on. Their turf is just like any good hs's field turf, and that carnival in the back pissed me off.

Memorial

The best field to play on is without a doubt Memorial Stadium. Although that oppotrunity was only available to our state champions and runner ups, I have had my history of other sports at that stadium, and boy, that place is a great choice. That place deserves more respect than the people around the area gives it. It has been around since the 50's and was the first field ever in the US to have astroturf. It's a gorgeous field. One should feel honored to play any sport on that field. Playing there is just not a bad choice at all. Plus the new field turf they put on is far better than most of the other, older field turf that I've played on.

Jungle Rules

Too bad BI's field is slanted, and terrible when it rains. Plus, their pump up music is 70's pop. (build me up buttercup is real manly)And those random drummers are the lamest attempt at spirit I've ever seen. "streakers" that wear boxers? Thats just annoying. At least MI's field has a (good) song after it.

idiot

the drummers have been there for years. and i believe the streakers were from your team. and this is about home field advantage, so having a crowned field, not slanted, is an advantage to the rock, as is the grass, which the mercer kids never play on.

so my last comment was

so my last comment was deleted. guess it was a bit over the top. so i will say this in a more mannered way.

why is MI's field called the jungle?

too me it just sounds like a lame attempt to have school/island spirit or pride or something. which it fails at. people just laugh at the idea of "the jungle" since the nearest tree is a mile away.

a more suitable name would be "bus-topia"

or "field where rich boys drive by honking and yelling like complete losers and idiots in their lexus's that their parents gave them"

tree land

just to let you know, MI is covered in trees, but i guess this is a stupid argument and ur just upset that MI won the championship THREE YEARS IN A ROW!!

ok

yah that must be it. nothing gets past you.

Obviously

If you remember the semifinals you would remember that the grass obviously didn't hold back Mercer that much considering they won the game on the slanted field.

also

the food is way better than the microwaved hotdogs at mercer. and i believe mountains are a better view than school buses as well.

also

the food is way better than the microwaved hotdogs at mercer. and i believe mountains are a better view than school buses as well.

wait

since when did they have hotdogs? its unbelievablely hard to find food on that forsaken island

Fans

mercer island has the most annoying fans. they do their stupid chants theat they think up at "chant-making-parties" at their houses. It seems like the whole island comes out to their games. Issaquah's fans are the funniest though, they always flip out and start yelling vulgar statements, i cant stop laughing. Maple Valley plays satanic music before the game, i dont know if thats suppose it intimidate or pump them up.

MI fans are crazy

Do you seriously think Issaquah fans are the funniest? Have you heard some of the things MI fans have said during games? And they don't make up their chants at "chant making parties" idiot.

haha

yeah mercers hilarious. at the championship game they were wearing shirts that said FYI

not original at all though.

not original at all though. Original was FYMI

thats even more stupid

FYMI isnt a common saying with double meaning. FYI is. so there.

Worst field for goalie

Curtis if the sun is just right setting in the west - and right above the scoreboard you are totally blinded. Try to win the coin toss so your goalie doesn't have to stare into the sun.

lynnwood

i dont know if any of u have seen the field lynnwood plays on then you would know that field is a freaking HOLE. if its wet u sink like 6 inches...and thats no joke Gb's are impossible you have to shovel them out of the ground...lynnwood hands down best home field advantage

I Agree

I totally agree, one time when it was raining and our team was playing them, the ball got stuck in the mud three times, the ref had to stop the game and pull it out with his hands. The have some weird fans too, they come decked out in a tiger suit.

Overlake... I bet

home field advantage takes everything into account which is why MI and BI most likely have the best advantage. Id say BI wins tho because the opposing team gets slim to no fans out there, where as people make the trek to MI. I think the risk of getting shot at Ranier Beach when playing prep is a legit concern however. Although the uncomfortableness it gives off doesn't quite outweigh BI's advantage.

i would have to say seattle

i would have to say seattle prep's home field at Rainer Beach is the best because every time i go there i think i might get shot. This is a serrious advantage for prep because whenever any of the eastside kids (Bellevue, Issaquah) come over they are likely scared for their lives because they are soft and sheltered. What an advangage to have the other team thinking about getting killed rather than playing the game. As a member of the lakeside team i too feel the urge to taker daddy's body guard when i go there to play. The field is in horrible condition (barely worse than our field at Lakeside) but the location is the key to it being the "hardest place to play in the state".

Ridiculous Post

This might be the most ridiculous post Ive ever read in the short history of Walax polls. For one, Rainier Beach isnt that bad of a neighborhood...within three blocks is waterfront property with houses that sell for over 1/2 a mill. Second, and no offense to Prep, none of their fans will come that South to watch them play. Fans are more of an impact than the actual neighborhood a field is in. I really hope this was a joke that I took too seriously.

rude

thats kinda of a stupid thing to say

?????

It's hard to say who has the best advantage. Any team with field turf would have to be on this list. From my personal experience, I would have to say Overlake.

yeah

At overlake we could make you play on turf or grass. we got both and if we wanted to we could make you play on the opposite of what you're used to. but we're nice, we use the turf.

uhhh

because playing on "the opposite of what [we're] used to" would RRREEEEAAAALLLLLYYYYYY affect the us. yah, ok. that makes your guys field soooo good. because we focus all our attention before the game on what surface we're about to play on. we come totally unprepared for the game and we lose. good strategy, dont know how you guys didnt win the championship (in DII)

not best field

lakeside and seattle prep have the worst fields hands down. nothing more needs to be said.

uh

how about maple valley, when i played there it was almost a cow field with a spot of grass at X. everything else was mud, three inches deep

seriously

it had rained the day before our game and the water was over 3 inches deep where you'd face off

i think the best game to

i think the best game to watch is BI vs Mercer at both venues. The crowd is SOOO hostile at both places it is rediculous. Those two programs absolutely hate each other. I think overall though, BI definently has the best place to play. Issaquahs field is nice to play at as well. Third is more or less a toss up but Mercer gets a decent amount of fans out so they get it. But this friday at MI, if you want to see an intense lacrosse atmosphere. BI vs MI. Should be great

BI over MI

the biggest difference is the fans, while both get tons of fans for big games, the BI fans come with class, excited to watch good lacrosse. also, there is no comparison, the grill at BI is way better.

pissy issy

if your talking about class your right. but when it comes to ruthlessness, i have to give it to issaquah, because at the state game i was rooting for MI and some Pissy issaquah guy through hot coffee on me. maybe he was sad that they got destroyed by mi. anyways i think that its either MI or BI with the best homefield advantage.

yea

great post-i couldnt have said it any better...

wow

are you serious? great post?. thats the biggest b.s. ive ever heard. when did MI "destroy" Issaquah in a state final? just curious

come on

BI still has grass, when that shiz gets wet its muddy and no fun. Not to mention, curtis has many ball boys to keep the endlines supplied

BI is better for the fans

BI is better for the fans, first of all there are more of them, creating a more exciting enviroment, the grill is always going with delicious burgers, the stands are covered in case it rains, and the scenery with seattle mount rainier and the cascades to the east and the olympics to the west is the best in the state. as for the playing field itself, thats another story as the grass gets chewed out later in the season(ie now) and the goal and face areas tend to have sand filling in the holes that develope, and it can get sloppy with mud in front of the cages when it rains. this being said it is still a fun place to play when the field's not muddy, and you get to ride the ferry.

curtis and issaquah both have nice stadiums with good turf, but they lack the enviroment.

When we played BI at BI there wasnt a great amount of fans, id say splotches here and there of them. The burgers looked good, but mine was burnt, thus the burger maker is not consistent with the quality of every single burger, though they were free. Curtis's stadium could eat BI's, on the upper levels there are back rests, i dont know who else has that. Our stadium has mountains to be seen all around too, it depends where your stading. You should have been at the Maple Valley game and told us we didnt have alot of fans. Who also has a full fledged locker room painted the home colors and a sick sound system? That tops it right there, Curtis wins this one.

reply

that was also a saturday game, so not as many people go to it, also more people go to games against the better teams, like Issaquah and MI, curtis does not have that reputation yet, though it looks like they may become a consistent winner in a couple years. as for the burgers, they are consistently good, that wasn't a busy game, so it was a burger made earlier, you just got unlucky.

Bainbridge or Curtis

I just visited Bainbridge 3 days ago for a highschool game, and I would have to say their field is very nice, but I've also visited Curtis many times and think their field is nice too.

I'm gonna have to say its a tie between the two.

Curtis?

maybe i played on an alternative field or something but curtis's field had no rubber in it what so ever. Maybe this doesnt matter to anyone else but i dont like playing on cement with plastic grass over it... other than the the stadium is nice

Curtis' main feild has

Curtis' main feild has really nice turf, and yes, it has rubber in it

overlake

overlake's field is pretty nice

yeah

curtis has nice turf

BI best overall tho

The Best

Curtis easily has the best field. Awesome stadium, field is nice/ very well kept i must say, and we have bushes shaped with 'viks' in letters, that is sick.

BI

As a player for four years with eastside, I would say the toughest place to play was Maple Valley. Their crowd is right on the field, and they do as much as they possibly can to get in your head. I think they have the best home field advantage. As far as best home field, I always enjoyed making the trip to bainbridge. The ferry ride followed by a game on the grass of the stadium is awesome. It really gets me fired up to play and is a great environment with the drums and food.

maple valley

true, i forgot about maple valley. although the fans never bothered me at all the field was horrible. i remember games there with inches of mud and not a speck of grass on the field. it also smelled like cow feces. not a hospitable environment
