Tournament

Due to unforseen cicumstances (i.e. Maryland lacrosse vs. New York lacrosse politics) the National High School Championship Tournament has been canceled for this year. Here at Mercer we are all pretty upset, but we still feel it was an honor for our team and our state to receive a spot in the bracket before the tournament fell apart. Hopefully next year whichever team wins will again be invited and represent for Washington State.

This is great that

This is great that washington(mercer) is in the nationals. i think they are the best team to represent us becuase of how well they do in games that mean it all.

Mercer Island gets a wild card...

Mercer, regardless of their record here in Washington, has defeated three other state champions this season: Lakeridge, Cape Elizabeth, and Providence Day.  These are the respective champions of Oregon, Maine, and North Carolina.  That may be a reason Mercer was selected, as well as being the current champion.  Regardless, this opportunity paves the way for a Washington team EVERY year if the national HS tourney is successful.

All of the invited 16 teams have yet to accept, but check here for who will play who at either of the two locations:  Hofstra or the fabled field of greatness, Hopkins' Homewood field.  Whether you agree with MI being selected or not, this is a great opportunity for Washington Lacrosse.  We were chosen as one of the three wildcard slots in the first year of the tournament which will commense during the 17th-18th of June.  Winners of the single-elim bracket, will play during the next weekend for a national high school title.

Here is the list from lax.com of states asked to attend for bracketing:

New York 1
New York 2
Massachusetts
New Jersey
Connecticut
Maryland
Washington DC
Pennsylvania
Virginia
California
Colorado
Texas
Ohio
Wildcard State 1 (Washington)
Wildcard State 2
Wildcard State 3

Support our local team as they represent Washington back east at Homewood field!

YEAH WE ARE

YEAH MERCER, its a about time that we're getting recognized, i mean what better team to represent washington than Mercer? exactly. were goin all the way this year and incoming years, mahoneys or not.

Ahh..

It would be tight if MI could recruit a couple of key MI pplz like Snider, Montoya, and Gilbreath..

there the best, they deserve

there the best, they deserve it
GO MI

No Their Not

Issaquah should go to, MI is good, I admit, but they looked like DII team the second time Issaquah played them. The way they were getting penalties and kicking over they're benches, and throwing gear has me a little worried about this tourney.

Ya...ok

Thats true and all but who won state...uhhh ya. Issay may have one the regular season games, but lost when it mattered. And by the way MI is the one who is going to the east coast and getting more experience and noticed. And Chris Taylor...DI Georgetown anyone? Starting D-Mid against UVA in playoffs as a freshman. Get noticed by the rest of the country first then say you can go to nationals.

probably

if Issaquah and MI go to nationals whats the use of a state championship, MI proved to be better, therefor deserving it.

ya

good luck to mercer and hopefully these guys play the best lacrosse of their lives and make washington look good

i think thats exactly whats

i think thats exactly whats going to happen. Mercer always tends to play amazing when they travle (i.e. North Carolina, New York etc.) That's so sick that we're going to nationals! GO MI!
