Adam Hughes Makes the Cut for the Jax

Out of the 16 players who tried out at the LumberJax tryouts last week, just five players made the first cut for training camp.  Three players from Seattle tried out, but only recent transplant, Adam Hughes, made the cut to attend LumberJax training camp.

Adam comes to Seattle from Central New York, as a two-time All-American from Cortland.  Matt Sauri's Wimmer Solutions has an eye for talent and brought Adam to Seattle as a recruiter helping other technical people change jobs.  In the latest Hawaii tournament, Adam played for the all-star Wimmer Solutions which included such stars as Jake Reed, Nate Watkins and Kyle Harrison.  In addition to working at Wimmer, Hughes plays with the Blue Collar, one of Seattle's Men's Club teams, and coaches the Elite Seattle Starz team.

The NLL is not foreign to Hughes, he is a respected player, sought by other teams such as the Mammoth drafted as the 62nd pick out of college, as somewhat of a novice to the dramatically different indoor game.  Hughes said of his first training camp experience, "I was in for a rude awakening my first day at Mammoth training camp." He has played at a high level since graduating from Cortland, and loves to help spread Lacrosse to Seattle's young talent, through clinics and Starz.  Hughes is all about growing the game.  "Anyone who wants to learn the game, I am willing to give back.  I make the time to stop for anyone who has a stick in their hands.  I like being a part of the growth of the game, and contributing to the development of Seattle Lacrosse as a hotbed."

When asked why he chose to try out for the Jax this year, he was stoic, "You realize how much you miss the game.  Being out here, I could get another shot to play a game that has done so much for me".  We asked him what would he do if Seattle becomes an NLL franchise city and he replied, "Of Course I would play for Seattle.  I would want to be the first guy signed to the team, as a Native Son of the Rainy City."

Adam has a robust network of Supporters here in Seattle.  "Wimmer has been immensely supportive, both Matt and the Office have been completely in my corner.  You cant ask for a better environment than that."

We wish you all the best, as training camp starts in just two weeks!
