Who's an an All American this year?
Submitted by defensewinscham... on Wed, 2006-03-15 22:11.
Allright fellas let the speculation begin. Which three players are gonna be All Americans this year? Will Drew Snider make a two peat? Could Gerard be the first defensemen since Lakeside's Jon Bodanksy to receive All American? Or will the Mahoney duo score twin honors? Lets keep this one clean and constructive.
Dylan Masi

Mahony and Howell from MI
Brant Howell, Mahony brother's, and/or Drew Snider
AA
snider should not get all-american. ive said this before but he obviously cant produce in clutch situations. the last two years when garfield plays BI they have held snider pointless. an all-american should be able to get stuff done for his team in all games and in all situations. snider obviously cant. just because he leads the league in points doesnt mean its automatic all-american.
on that note, what about dylan masi from BI? averaging 4.5 points a game which leads the best team in the league. not only that masi plays without fear, a guy that small could get killed driving in the middle or behind yet he still does with great skill and ease, he plays ahrd in every situation. if he does get hit he gets back up and goes right after the ball. he rides like a great attackman should-agressive. a player like dylan masi should not be overlooked when it comes to all-american selection.
i wonder where you could be
i wonder where you could be from.

All Americans
I believe that Drew Snider is gonna get all american recognition for the second time. Also, Brant Howell from Mercer Island is gonna be a All american for defense. When he's on the field it looks like he scares everyone and strips the ball from them. The third is up for grabs. I think maybe one of the Mahoneys will get the third spot or Montoya from Garfield, since he's the best Goalie in the state.
All American
I think Snider will be an All-American once again, but the next 2 spots are up for grabs. I do think that Mike Gerrard does have the ability to be a defensive All-American. I also think that the Mahoney brothers are a great combination, it seems that they are almost all Mercer has this year. There are also some great players like Springer, I am not sure he has capability to be an All-American, but judging on how much he has gotten done with the team he is on is pretty outstanding. Montoya is the best goalie in the state and has the capability of being an All-American. Shane O'Neill of Seattle Prep definately also has potential. O'Neill is one of the fastest players with great versitle abilities. He is able to play both sides of the field, and finish for Prep when it is needed. David Campi is also a great finisher leading Issaquah, and he is also at the top of my list for All-Americans.
4 All-Americans?
Drew Snider, Mike Gerrard, and then either Kevin Mahoney or Jason Montoya. One thing I've noticed in recent years is that the number of all-americans has remained the same even though the number of teams and competition in division 1 has increased. I've heard that (in most states) it is 1 all-american for every 3 teams in the highest level of lacrosse in the state. Seeing as how there are now 13 teams in division 1, shouldn't there be a switch to 4 all-americans?
Definitely Worthy of 4
I'm still waiting for Snider to explode. At this point in the season, I think Montoya and Gerrard are the only ones deserving. It would be great to see a couple on the other end of the field getting recognized. As for the others, no one has really stepped up. If Bainbridge keeps playing the way they're playing, you gotta reward one of their guys. It's still early.
So far, the only one who is close...
is Gerrard. Snider and both Mahonys are good, but simply haven't been able to get much done. I know they have been shut off with poles, but neither have shown up in big games against big teams. Gerrard has- much can be said the same for Montoya.
