STX Crankshaft Confusion
Baltimore, MD – Due to a recent misinterpretation of the 2006 NCAA Men’s Rules by a few referees, coaches and retailers, the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee issued the attached release concerning STX’s Crankshaft and the heads intended to be sold with the Crankshaft. The two key points made by the Committee are:
1. The STX Crankshaft products “are considered to be legal”
2. The “table top” rule is the over-riding rule when considering the legality of off-set heads and/or bent handles
Furthermore, the NFHS clearly expressed its position by stating that “since the STX Crankshaft products meet the “table top” test, they [are] allowed for use under the NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rules”.
This should end any confusion about the legality of STX’s newest product line at all levels of play. The so-called “table top” test appears on page 15 of the STX 2006 catalog, page 20 of the 2006 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Rules handbook and page 14 of the 2006 NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rules Book.
