D2 predictions for 07

As Lynnwood, Skyline and Eastlake are moving to D1 for 07 who'll step up to take their places.  What are your predictions for the 2007 season?

tacoma, snohomish, overlake

tacoma, snohomish and overlake are going to be the 3 best teams in d2. overlake is a good team every year, and with eastlake and skyline leaving, they are open to take the evergreen conf. snohomish has been really good every year as well, and with lynnwood gone they should take the skagit conference. and tacoma just played skyline 11-9, and i think skyline was the second best team in d2 last year. these are gonna be the top 3 teams

puyallup

Puyallup just won the big jamboree, even though there was no championship game. They beat everyone they played pretty easily except for north county (4-3). I don't think Tacoma will walk all over puyallup in that conference, as for Overlake, yes the evergreen conference is theirs to lose, and snohomish is top program in the skagit, but there are some dangerous teams there now, North County, Whatcom, stanwood and Mukilteo have all improved over last year, and northshore should be no joke either.

bellarmine for sure. those

bellarmine for sure. those guys are alot better than tacoma last year and i think will easily win division 2

Snohomish

Lets be honest... all this talk about how Snohomish is hurting without Harry is bogus. Harry had a decent year, but his attitude and hype hurt more than helped. With Bos having over 60 points as a sophomore and the big money maker Sam B snohomish will be amazing. They graduated four players and the rest of the team has amazing chemistry... nuf said

Overlake's defense?

does anyone want to give a quick analysis of Overlake's defense this year? I know that Rasheed graduated (sorry if it's spelled wrong) but I'm not sure of their defenders, opinions please?

All good responses

Allen Scott with Stanwood should finally produce better results this year.

I like Puyallup and Overlake since these teams went into the playoffs and lost few if any players to graduation.

You cannot rule out Nathan Hale. Remember they dropped to DII after the previous coaches ran team into the ground. Expect new coach to take a talented core to the playoffs.

Bothell while the name has changed the faces have not. With the Wiz coaching and his boys already seasoned veterans, plus a core of Eastside kids, Bothell should be able to play with the best of them.

Snohomish hurting without Harrison, but should make a good showing nonetheless.

Whatcom, Franklin, Klahowya, Kitsap team, Tacoma and others should force the leaders of the pack to be looking over their shoulders.

Bottom line, here before the season begins, there appears to be clear front runners. But the strength of the teams behind them may create many upsets this season.

are you serious?

Remember they dropped to DII after the previous coaches ran team into the ground. Expect new coach to take a talented core to the playoffs.

The coaches didn't run Nathan Hale into the ground. If anything it was the parents. I saw what happened first hand with Hale last year. How can you blame the coaches when you have parents of a few of the players threatening the coaching staff, during the game, if they didn't play their kid? Also you can only do so much with limited talent and players. They didn't even have enough players to field a JV team of Frosh team, which after all are both requirements for a DI team.

Nathan Hale....

I second that post.

The "past" coaching staff at Hale were all D1 Lacrosse players that all had extensive coaching experience. The parents were all very new to the sport and wanted to make sure that everyone had a chance to play every game. You can not build a D1 team with that mentality. Parents threatening coaches was common place, once it got to the point where a parent wanted to fight a coach because his son didnt get enough playing time.

It's unfortunate that Hale dropped to D2 but that is where they belong. Until the school, the parents, and the kids can all make a commitment to the sport, the team will always be who they are...

I am still very emotionally attached to that program so I wish them the best in 2007. There are a few really good kids on that team that deserve a good lacrosse experience. I hope their new coach has the experience to create a program and manage a group of parents and students that need to be managed.

Hale Situation

I was real close to that situation last year, and you are all operating on limited info.

I agree that Hale needs to develop kids who are committed to lacrosse and all that it takes to win.

They have great parents and the one who wasn't gets press. We handled that situation and moved on with a very difficult season. You know you are in for a rough year when your head coach resigns the day of the first practice,

Just because you are a D1 player does not make you a good coach. Discipline, dedication, and comunication go a long way.

Please do not disparage our program or parents with out all the facts.

I need to say that Kyle Warf did a good job for the situation he was thrown into. I am so glad he landed at Blanchet. He will do a good job with the program.

I think stanwood starts

I think stanwood starts winning some games. Every single person on their team was a freshman last year.

Bellarmine

the Tacoma split wasn't exactly a 50/50 split. There was only one starting SR last year and the F/O middie goes to Stadium. Other than that all the notable players attend Bellarmine. Bellarmine should easily be able to run the table this year.

rank em'

here is my top 8 in the league... it has opened up big now that tacoma split, and lynnwood, skyline and eastlake are gone.

1. Overlake
2. Snohomish
3. Puyallup
4. North County
5. Nathan Hale
6. Franklin
7. Klahowya
8. Bothell

I believe number one and two are a bit better than the rest this year, but 3-6 could be ranked any 6-3...and then a big drop off for the rest of the teams

My 8 teams!

1. Snohomish
2. Tacoma
3. Nathan Hale
4. North County
5. Puyallup
6. Bothell
7. Franklin
8. Bellermine Prep

I cant think of any legit

I cant think of any legit players on Overlake to have them ranked number 1. taking into consideration the expertise of their coach, but we will see how far that gets/takes them, since the players are the ones that need to win the games.

overlake #1

I think they are number one because of thier coaching, they have come on strong the last two years and have been a player in DII for a while. With harrison gone out of Snohomish and Lynnwood, Skyline, Eastlake gone, that leaves Overlake...oh, and I guess Bellarmine Prep IS really Tacoma, then they would be number two, so here are some more updated rankings after learning a few things or two.
1. Overlake
2. Tacoma
3. Nathan Hale
4. Snohomish
Puyallup, Franklin, Northshore, Klahowya round out the other top tier teams, as well as Whatcom, and North County.
It is really wide open this year, should be exciting.

OK

I have been coached by the overlake coach Henry i have nothing against him but he caoches very simple stuff and against a defense that understands slides their O wont stand a chance. I think North Counties or Snohomishs agressive play would collaspe their offense. Raheem Graduated who was one of their best defensive keys. I will say they will be conditoned very well. My top 4 would have too be
1. Snohomish
2. North County
3. Overlake
4. Tacoma
The reason for these rankings is tacoma couldnt beat Overlake last year at their best in the playoffs. Snohomish has Bos who will dominate this year due to help in the off season and their defense is still solid. North County was young last year and played with a lot of intensity and with more stick skills will be good this year if such adjustments are made

i dont think that bothell

i dont think that bothell could be in the top 8. isnt it their first year in the high school league? also, nathan hale deserves higher than 5. even though they didnt have the record last year, they were in D1. i forgot that they were dropping down, and i think that they could easily be a contender for state, so i would put them anywhere in the top three.

*COUGH*!!!!!!!!!!!!!! skyline

doesnt skyline have players

doesnt skyline have players that were apart of the issaquah program before skyline formed a team? if that is true, where are the bothell players coming from? granted i dont know much about either program

no

the only player i know of that came from actually playing at issaquah is Gervais.

Cough....Ki? i have nothing

Cough....Ki? i have nothing against skyline but you did have some help and idk about bothell. thats it.

i agree

I feel that bothell may be this years version of skyline, and 2004's version of whatcom...The new teams that come in to the league with two or even three months of practice before the other teams can even TALK about lacrosse to the coaches, will have a distinct advantage over all the other teams. when you have brand new teams getting all of that time, and everyone else two weeks, at THIS level, D2, it takes a while for these young teams to mesh, and you don't see good lacrosse until late april, early may. otherwise, it is who can survive march. Especially this year were there won't be that clear cut favorite as in years past. Be ready for some real BIG surprises, like the skylines, lynnwoods and whatcoms and issaquahs of years past! and until the "developmental league" can get a little more equality, it is going to be wide open every year, with new teams forming and getting an advantage.

im not so sure about that

nobody expected whatcom to be good or lynnwood so you cant come out saying teams are going to be amazing we will really find out if bothell or nathan hale or any other new team is any good in the first couple weeks. i dont think there is going to be any surprise teams this year.

I am though

nathan hale isn't new, they may not have won many games in the last few years in D1, but now that they are in D2, who knows, they could be top notch D2 or middle of the pack D2...time will tell for them, as far as northshore, they have about 8 players from eastside and a few athletes, as well as a lot of talented young freshman and sophomores. They are not going to be a slouch, they will be competitive. now as far as the other new teams, sammamish and blanchet, no one knows for sure. Point is, Every year SOMEONE surprises and I was guessing that Northshore bothell is the surprise team this year.

overlake, snohomish,

overlake, snohomish, puyallup are my top three. tacoma would be if they didnt split into two teams.

Franklin

You all must not know that franklin is returning 8 of their 10 starters last year including 1st team all state middie and hover vaccum John Miller who had more ground balls than everyone in the state last year. dont count franklin out they might have a year

nope

I don't think it will be franklins year!

woah. I didn't know vacuum's

woah. I didn't know a vacuum could could hover

well ground balls are huge

well ground balls are huge but it also matters whos doing the books. The person who did the books only counted a ground ball if there were 2 or more of the other team there so ya. By saying he got the most gbs is good but you cant rely on only that

yep

there are some D2 teams that will remain nameless, that have bookkeepers that give a ground ball to a kid who just picked it up after he dropped it with no pressure, just drops it in the middle of his cradle, picks it up and I hear from the spotter, "ground ball for #7" I was like wow, are you kidding me!

I just was checking this

I just was checking this forum to see what yah'll were saying about overlake cuz I played for them a few years back. I'm glad to see some of you think they'll be pretty good. they got some decent athletes this year but numbers will still as always be a problem for them.
