confusion
I think there is some confusion. Are we talking about Puget Sound Select, a Seattle based girls summer select team coached by Bainbridge and Lakeside head coaches, or the Northwest Regional Team, which represents players from the Northwest back at the National Tournament? The Regional Team is not coached exclusively by the Bainbridge and Lakeside head coaches... it tends to change each year, and is usually one Oregon coach and one WA coach, and the selection is not made by league coaches.
Two different things, and one is seemingly more controversial than the other.
the vast lax wing conspiracy
The peanut gallery on this forum should spend more time enjoying the simple pleasures of lacrosse, and less time cooking up conspiracy theories. I can't imagine any of the coaches have the motivation to send anything but the most competitive and highest skilled team to the National Tournament. Best of luck to the team. Postive thinking is a force multiplier, don't let the negative commentary get you down!

2008 NW Regional Team - Honor the Players
The anonymous and off-base comments posted from "TellitLikeItIS" and "laxdad" against these two coaches in our league... are not only disrespectful to the coaches, but they also completely dishonor the players who earned their spot on the 2008 NW Regional Team.
Seriously... Did you see the roster for the HS girl’s regional team? There are players from Oregon City, Mercer Island, Lakeside, Forest Ridge, Bainbridge, West Linn Or., Holy Names and Roosevelt.
The players who made the regional team did so because THEY ARE the BEST of the best in the Northwest. They should be honored and applauded for out-performing at the tryouts... where many, many selector's eyes were watching, challenging, evaluating their skills and ultimately, selecting the team.
Thankfully, the many of us who have worked hard for decades developing girls lacrosse in Washington State, as well as those who have relatively recently taken on leadership roles, fully respect and appreciate the commitment and teaching from all of our coaches, particularly the exceptional coaches of the top two teams in this state, Lakeside and Bainbridge.
Best of luck to both Bainbridge and Lakeside (players, coaches, parents and fans) in tomorrow’s 2008 Varsity A Championship game.
Sincerely,
Lorrie McKay
there's nothing disgraceful
there's nothing disgraceful about it. They're stating a reasonable opinion about an observation they made. It's one thing if those two teams were absolutely destroying everyone all year, but the fact is there are other good teams and players as well.
Girls high school select
As long as the coaching is in the hands of the BI and Lakeside coaches it will not change. Those 2 pretty much make the rules for girls lax in the state
Excuse me?
There is no monopoly on coaching and teams. When other teams - and their coaches - can step up to the level of playing of Lakeside and BI, then Washington will have a broader-based, more competitive program than it does today. If other teams were playing at a similar level as Lakeside and BI, you would see a much broader representation. This is not major league baseball, where each team gets to send one player to the all star game.
It only makes sense
Its well known that coaches will select players they believe have potential to train them for the next season, even if they are currently not the best. Of course these two coaches will put girls from their own teams ahead of others - that's one of the reasons their programs are so successful!
