2009 All Americans?

Carr Snow McClain

Carr
Snow
McClain

Carr, Snow, and ... maybe

Carr, Snow, and ... maybe Stevenson. first two are clear, third is best guess.

No mention of Cole

No mention of Cole Nordstrom? certainly a top notch athlete whose quality of play rivals that of the clothes his family is known to sell. ;)

Cole Nordstrom

He is NOT a top-notch athlete. He has extremely good stick skills. His speed and strength (or lack thereof) is solid for a high schooler in Washington State but not near the caliber for All-American. To be big time from WA, you need to have Landon Carr type size/athleticism AND the stick skills...

dylan masi...

was all american....dude was small but he was a BALLER!!!!

No.

There are a handful of better players that are more worthy of all-american then Cole Nordstrom.....

nas

he's good, but not all american.

One doesn't have to be

One doesn't have to be landon's size to be all american, look at travis and drewski. I wouldn't rule cole out just yet... hes a good player, an off-season can do quite a lot for a player.

I'll give my preseason nods to Sam Snow, Jake Director, and Stevenson. Issy still repeats as champions though.

Move On

Mason you graduated so long ago why are you still on these forums. It makes absolutely no sense. How bout you go hit the wall or something. No one likes hearing from you and your opinions carry no weight. If you want to write for Walax as much as you do than ask Fred for a job. Maybe you can pick up balls for the clinics he runs, and then tell us about. We'll all count how many "issy repeats as champions" you can fit into one article. Get off.

YOU

Well I must admit, I am quite flattered you know who I am.

Well see who's opinion carries weight once May rolls around. So here you go again little guy, Issaquah repeats as champions.

No hard feelings!

Come on people, we live in

Come on people, we live in the Evergreen State, so take that green and chillll...

I dont know whether you have

I dont know whether you have graduated or not. But im here for the same reason as Mason; To stay connected with the Washington lacrosse scene while im off at school, which is definitley a legitimit reason to post here.

Sounds to me like Mason's presence frustrates you a little bit, it must be because his arguments contain something that is often forgotten on this forum... logic.

Hey I can definitely get

Hey I can definitely get behind the idea that you want to stay in touch with the lax scene here. But if your away at school then why are you talking smack in a forum about the all-americans if you are not even around to watch them play?

I would allow Mason's presence to frustrate me if he had any effect on the upcoming season. However, I feel bad for him because he obviously cannot move beyond his high school days.

you seem a bit frustrated

slow your roll hg jr. these forums are open to anybody so just because he voices his opinion doesn't mean you can take a personal stab at him.

And issy repeats as champions.

I don't understand what is

I don't understand what is so offensive about those predictions...they seem reasonable to me, I graduated in 05 but still like to check out the forums for fun, too. Just because Mason didn't recommend your buddy, cause obviously no AA candidate talks down to people of forums, doesn't mean he isn't just as fit to make a prediction.

And Issy repeats as state champs.

You didnt listen to me

You didnt listen to me

#21 for highline

kaden christianson for sure. look out for number 21 hes gunna be on fire

My Picks

Sam Snow - Bainbridge (great player)
Daniel Shields - Mercer Island (great player)
Landon Carr - Curtis (great athlete)

These were the only three juniors last year in the top 10 for points. No one else compares to these three.

Points are not everything..

Points are not everything.. look at Carr's stats vs Issaquah. Pointless. That's what Connor McClain does.

Agreed

But,

Sam Snow scored 3 goals the 1st time he played Issaquah, and 2 goals the 2nd time.

Daniel Shields also scored 3 goals the 1st time he played Issaquah, and 2 goals the 2nd time.

Where was Connor then? He's a great defensemen, probably the best in the state, but it's really hard to make AA from that position.

What would be interesting to see is how Director would do against McClain? I would put Director up against Carr for All-American. Carr has size & athleticism (which is why he's going to Maryland), but Director is the better lacrosse player, and does more for his team.

I don't think Connor will

I don't think Connor will get it either, but your argument is flawed.

Connor is a true LSM, those two are both attackmen. Secondly, even if Connor was defending them, its not like they were doing 1 on 1s the entire game. There are things called plays, failed clears, and man-up where kids get points without being defended against.

right now....

westsidelax.com has Carr listed as the fourth best player on the west coast.... and you say director is the better player?

based on what?

If you look at the number of games played last year by Landon(10) his point tally and his ground balls, he clearly was one of the best players last year as a junior. Relating him to the best players on the West Coast- speculation. you have to be honest and say Landon did not show himself as the best player in Washington last year for lots of reasons. I would also rank Snow higher on that list since he tore it up last year, and will be going to Fairfield. The fact a website in California puts him in the top 4 on the West Coast, including Colorado, California, Oregon and all states in between should seem fundamentally impossible. How can you compare any of those players unless they play for the same club team? Oh, wait, they do. Hmmm...

ok....

i wasn't really trying to say anything really about westsidelax and all of their rankings, i just posed the question of how someone wants to say that Director is better than Carr... but i guess i could suggest looking at the evaluation committe for the top 25 players, it's not some dad in california exactly

hear ya on that

my point was the rankings are flawed and everyone knows it. Even my coach says its worthless. Coaches are all really good, but I think they all get paid by the same guys...
I think Snow and Carr for sure. A couple guys can make a difference if they play well. Stevenson, Nordstrom maybe, McDermott from BI, maybe that Jernudd kid from Lakeside...who knows?

Who?

Who are McDermott and Jernudd? Never heard of them. Did they even play varsity last year? Are you serious?

Nordstrom will get it as a senior. Stevenson is good, but you have to be an amazing goalie to get AA.

2009 AA's = Snow, Shields & Director

McDermott

Is BI's replacement of the Dayton both of them strips sticks which is rare in a defender and you'll see him this season tearing it up

so pbg4.....

what makes you pick director over carr?

because..

..other then size, Director is the better lacrosse player. He has a better dodge, better stick skills, better field sense, better leader and he does more for his team (like show up to games).

no offence

but jake director only has one move

carr....

did plenty for his team last year...averaged more than 4 points a game where director was under 3...as for stick skills he shoots the ball in the nineties, probably with both hands now... all i'm saying is i'd take mr. carr over director if i had to pick someone to go and get me an important goal

Jake has teamates, Landon

Jake has teamates, Landon unfortunately does not. Jake also is unselfish, not implying that Landon is selfish.

Also, Jake does have more than one move, but no one can stop the one he chooses, so why would he use another one?

Both players get jumpy when

Both players get jumpy when you put a pole on them. I've seen it happen to each of them.

Carr had a pole guarding him

Carr had a pole guarding him the whole year so thats irrelevant. and im a better basketball player than lebron james he is just a better athlete... ha

Fine, let me rephrase

Fine, let me rephrase that.
Carr gets jumpy when you put McClain on him.

Haha Thank You dlax...

Haha Thank You dlax... westsidelax is completely bias, every single player on that list plays on some starz team somewhere. I'm not hating on starz, I know how much fun that stuff is, i'm just saying westsidelax is a bunch of pricks, created by some dad from St. Ignatous to show how bad their team can beat the rest of the west. You know the guy who started up that website is pissed about adding Colorado to the site, because everyone knows Colorado is way sicker than Cali, and they are just more down to earth.

Answer to your question(s)

do your homework. at what point does a Long Stick Middie play defense on an attackman... Your argument is M-O-O-T

So I guess the answer to your question is McClain was man-handling their feeble mid-fielders.

reply to your answer

"at what point does a Long Stick Middie play defense on an attackman..."

When that attackman is your biggest threat (i.e. Snow & Shields).

Are you saying you didn't put McClain on Snow and Shields? Did you do YOUR homework?

See PBG, since Issy was so

See PBG, since Issy was so good last year, they didn't have to worry about threats. The class of 08 doesn't understand the meaning of a threat? Sword and Snow were both shut down 1v1 against Pancottine (#17, you know, that 1st team all state guy that plays for WAC) Learn some coaching, you don't just throw your LSM guy down on an attackman, Yeah thats right, even against MI. And how many poles do you know who have scored two points against MI? I know one..

??

McClain played on Shields, watch the tape.

As for MI vs. Issy, what are they doing for a goalie, now that you're gone?

I think a lot of poles will be scoring on Issaquah this year, and anyone else that throws the ball in that direction.

I'm going to go ahead and

I'm going to go ahead and call your bluff on the film comment. Pancottine guarded shields.

I'll further calling that

I'll further calling that bluff by saying that no Issaquah defense will get scored on by the same pole twice. Regardless of how young or inexperienced they are.

PGB has the lacrosse IQ of a sixth grader.

well said

well said

does director...

play for a starz team?

No

He plays for Team B.I.L.

That's a summer travel team for Bainbridge, Issaquah & Lakeside kids.

Snow is a great player and

Snow is a great player and will most likely receive AA, for the 1st game against issy, the wrong goalie was in. Second time, Michael Panc guarded him, not McClain.. he shut down foster.

For Mercer, they beat them by a combined score of 24-9. I saw connor scored a goal, assist and destick both the twin towers and some other helpless islander.

As for Director, dont get me started. Just look at the way the kid walks.

just excuses

Aren't we talking about player vs. player, not team vs. team? Shields scored 3 goals the first time he played Issy and 2 the second time. And I'm pretty sure that a few of those goals were one on one with McClain.

Are you going to blame that on the goalie too?

I can assure you none of

I can assure you none of those were on McClain. Again, Michael Pancottine guarded Shields when they played in the semi's and I was in the cage, both of shields goals were in transition. Thats a teams fault, not an individual. Danny tried driving multiple times against issy and was either stripped or got stuffed. Shields will not be an all american. First team, yes, but not AA

Actually, your wrong.

Shields took McClain to the goal, one on one, twice at the beginning of the season. Watch the tape.

And if you really were in the goal during the semi's that makes you Nick Yapp, and I think you should concentrate on graduating high school instead of worrying about what your former teammates are doing.

First of all, Its Yaap...not

First of all, Its Yaap...not yapp. and you'll never be 1/2 the lacrosse player, man, or lover he is.
