What teams are playing? I heard rumors about a Bellevue/MI team. I know BI usually has a team same with Issaquah... and then the Cash Money Millionaires/ pokemon all star group have had a team the last couple years. Anybody know for sure about any of these and who else is coming?
you might be able to
argue for cutis too.
You do not honestly believe
You do not honestly believe that bellevue will have the most offensive firepower next year. You should rethink that statement and then either delete it entirely or change it to MI or Issaquah... maybe could even believe BI or at least making an arguement for them with Kevin Nguyen and Sam Snow but Bellevue??? Like really?
Agreed
Seriously, who is Deal, Zervas and Omri?
Few teams
why so few high school teams?
69 teams total. 4 3/4
69 teams total.
4 3/4 teams
22 5/6 teams
26 7/8 teams
17 HS teams.
Barely enough room on 4 fields.
How did the best players in
How did the best players in Mercer AND Bellevue combined lose to a shorthanded Issaquah team in bothell?
and
Does this now make Issaquah the heavy favorites to win it in '09?
Not really.
Actually, it was the other way around. Issaquah had everyone that mattered on Sunday (i.e. Director, Goodman, McClain, Goldstein, Henderson, etc.), while the M.I.B. team was missing most of the players they had the day before (i.e. Zervas, Wettack, Taylor, Caditz, Raffety, Reed, etc.). Most of the returning Mercer varsity guys had to leave for football camp that day.
Not to mention that Hap Giraud (MI's varsity goalie) wasn't there the entire weekend, they had Bellevue's two JV goalies and MI's frosh/soph goalie.
So really, a full Issaqauh team only beat a heavily shorthanded M.I.B. team by 1.
Issaquah is going to be good next year, they always are, but so is M.I. and Bainbridge. Bellevue is the team that is really going to turn some heads though. With Nordstrom, Zervas, Deal, Mutzel and Omri, they'll have the most firepower.
duh.
duh.

Anyone have any updates for any of the games?

HS Final Unofficial - Issy wins 6-4 over MIB 1
MS Final Unofficial - Issy wins 6-3 over LO
Once again Stan K put on a good and really fun Tournament we all hope he can keep it going. The "no seniors" policy effectively killed off the very entertaining and excellent Cash money millionaire type of teams.
The Oregon folks, as usual, brought a contingent of really good teams at all levels and played overall at a pretty high level.
There was the usual last minute roster adjustments with several teams picking up stray players to try an improve their chances of getting a win. Southridge added a couple of quality players from Vashon to try and get through the quarterfinals against the Issaquah Purple team but came up short.
MIB 1 definately was the team to beat and might have gone into the final a little overconfident after winning every game prior.
do you think that...
the "very entertaining and excellent Cash money millionaire type of teams" was a bad thing for the tournament? i rather enjoyed seeing those guys play the last two years
Not Necessarily...
...but some teams stayed away in the past because they did not want their incoming freshmen beat up or injured by a senior with his eyes on a tournament trophy. Many coaches requested that I keep seniors out- I simply listened. Also, by keeping seniors out I leveled the playing field so to speak. Alot of parity out there.
My goal has always been to make this primarily a youth tournament with the HS as an aside.
