Players Deliver Christmas Gifts

Headline News

PORTLAND, Dec. 22, 2006 – Portland LumberJax players Adam Bysouth, DJ Driscoll and Ryan Sharp helped spread some holiday cheer to the children at Shriners Hospitals of Portland on Tuesday by distributing 200 toys. The Jax collected the toys through their holiday party at On Deck Sports Bar & Grill on Dec. 9, 2006.

“The visit yesterday was a blast. It was my first experience as a Jax player,” said LumberJax rookie, Driscoll. “It was amazing that something as simple as our time and a few presents made a world of difference for a few kids and families during the holidays.”

The three players visited the children and their parents throughout the morning, distributing toys and spending time with them individually. Most of the children were not only excited to receive toys, but thrilled to see the players who signed personalized posters for the kids.

“A major highlight from the visit was hanging out with our seven year old guide Travis, and playing pool with him,” Driscoll added. “He took it upon himself to give out toys to the other kids and got very excited about the giant-sized Superman action figure that Dallas [Eliuk] donated. He picked that toy immediately for himself.”

“It was nice to brighten up the day for so many kids in the hospital during the holidays,” Bysouth explained. “We had a chance to meet some amazing kids at Shriners, and we wish them all the best in the future"
