Moving Up to DI? Why not Lynnwood?

Boy's Leagues

Since last year, Eastlake and Skyline both have been invited to go up to DI.  Each has a board, a feeder program, and support of the community- all the requirements dictated by the High School board.  Lynnwood has fulfilled the same requirements, yet they are having to petitiion to get consideration for the same thing.  Skyline finishes its first year, Lynnwood has a few more under the belt- why the controversy?  Shouldn't Lynnwood be allowed to go up as well?

Good job, i hope you do well(for the sake of Washington...)

I personally support lynnwood moving up to DI, i know a couple of guys on the team and they are good people. I wish them good luck in the 07 season.

Unfourtanately, I understand the reson people are disgreeing with the supporters of Lynnwood. If Lynnwood does poorly it will make Washington Lacrosse worse. The reason that Maryland and other areas on the East Coast have such a high profile in lacrosse is becuase they have a large number of high caliber teams, not just 3 or 4 teams who can beat everyone. When players or coaches from out of state look at the records of all the Washington DI teams and see that a couple of teams dominate the league and the rest have horrible records and lose very badly to the good teams, it shows that lacrosse is not very developed in Washington. If most of the teams in the league are neck and neck all throughout the season it shows that the quality of lacrosse in Washington is high becuase all of the teams are good enough to compete.

When someone looks at a ranking of teams and sees that one or two teams are doing very well they think that those two teams must be somewhat good, but more importantly they think all the other teams must really suck. This is the impression of Washington lacrosse that will last in their minds. "A few teams are good, but the state as a whole isn't very good."

So on that not I hope Lynnwood does well, because it will make Washington Lacrosse look better than it already does, but if they fail it will make us look worse...

Okay...

Wait, i thought Maryland highschool lax was dominated by only three powerhouses: Severn Park, Georgetown Prep, and Landon.

In the MIAA, the teams are

In the MIAA, the teams are equally good and for the most part, any of them have a good chance of being the best. It changes year to year.

I'm going to assume that you are talking about the Severn School, and if so, to my knowledge, they have only been about 50-50 for the past couple of years.

And if anything, the only type of domination is between the leagues. Overall, the MIAA is and has been the best league in MD, if not the whole country.

The MIAA is like a mini

The MIAA is like a mini private league in Maryland. Georgetown Prep and Landon aren't in it. There are way more private schools here than in Washington so them and the public schools don't get along. Recruiting and all that jazz.. public schools can't compete with them. The MIAA is Calvert Hall, Saint Pauls, Boys Latin, Mt. St. Josephs, Loyola, Saint Marys, Gilman, Severn, McDonough, a couple others or something. They don't get to compete with anyone else in Maryland aside from exhibition games. I think chrymo was referring to Severna Park, and they always do pretty well in their respective league.. There is no real state championship in Maryland... and I don't know if they're the best in the country, but they will certainly tell you they are

yeah

This is all very true. I was unsure whether he was referring to SPHS or Severn. And about the MIAA being the best, thats what they do tell me. It was unfair for me to call them the best.

So, yeah, basically forget what I wrote earlier. The main point I tried to make was: No, there is not really any team in MD that dominates. There are too many good teams, and not all of them can play each other, so it is hard to tell who actually would dominate.

yup

Simon u make some good points and thanx for the support and i see where ur coming from with the washington lacrosse thing and i agree. Thats y everyone on my team is pushing themselves for this upcoming season and with a little luck we might win some games. See you on the field.

Go Lynwood

I think it is great that Lynwood is going to D1. I think they are a quality team. My son's team played against them, and lost both games badly. You dont hear me bad mouthing them. Instead of running teams down (Mason), lets be happy Washington is growing in good teams. Is Lynwood going to win the D1 championship in 07? Probably not. But I bet they wont get creamed either. Lets try to be a community of lacrosse. leave the trash talking for on the field in godd natured way. Enough said.

Sorry

Mason has the right to say what he wants in this matter because he played for one of the best DI teams. He knows more about how good DI teams are, and how Lynnwood will fare against them.

I agree with doing what is best for the "community of lacrosse", but what is best for the community may or may not be in Lynnwood's best interests.

Your son losing against them does not prove they are a good team. Their success against mediocre to bad DII teams is not an acurate measure of how they will do in DI.

just stop

listen old man, they are going to get creamed. and if you want us to trash talk, wouldnt you rather have it on a online forum then on a field where your precious son could get hurt by some punk because he thinks he's some hot shot in dII. in a "good natured way"? i cant think of any "good natured" trash talk, or any "godd natured" for that matter. so if you have an idea, the "lacrosse community" would sure like to know.
enough said out of you.

Old man?

Calling me old man and knocking my son, who you dont know is just immature. I didnt say my son was a hot shot. But he has respect for adults and handles himself in a mature fashion. And I will comment on this forum when and how I like. It saddens me to hear comments like yours. I am new to this sport and love it. But the garbage I hear from the likes of you is sickening. If you are any kind of man, you would apologize, and try to be supportive of the other Washington teams and not run them down. But I dont have much faith in that happening. Nuff said.

yup

Don't make people feel bad. You could have said that in a kinder way.

ah yes

Ideals, Ideals. I guess I'll jump on your band wagon of a washington lacrosse utopian society

HAHAHA

Lynnwood moving to DI are you kidding me?

D1

I read on the tigers webiste that they are going D1...congratulations, good luck to you, and to skyline and to Eastlake. I ask one thing, proove you belong so that all the D1 people will cool off, all you want to do is play at the next level shouldn't be enough...MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!!!
congrats again to all three teams!

i think its funny that the

i think its funny that the whole like focus on your website is .. MOVING TO D1!!

unless you are and nobody but you guys know.

stop crying because we are

stop crying because we are moving up, we are going to work hard and prove our selves worthy of being in D1.

i doubt it

i doubt it

why would you say that?!?

why would you say that, you probably dont even know anyone from lynnwood.

hey come on now..

I do know some people from lynnwood, but that is a moot point. I just don't think you're going to be very good next year... D1 is "white collar" if you will.

ok

who do u kno jw?

Lynnwood will be going...

into DI next year officially.  hopefully, we will get some more information behind the decision shortly.

true

true we did lose bloomquist but thats not everything we have a fairly good goalie and rob love and jeremy at defense who r both sick. Now our offense isnt as strong with players but sean and i both made starz elite at middie which will help up our game play and take things back to our team to learn. Now im saying anything except that if skyline gets to move up then we should 2. Im not saying we re going to do anything in d1 i just want the chance to play at that level and if that skyline team does then i believe we have earnd that right as well. Players who i have playd with back me up on this or let me know how you feel.

wrong

you shouldnt move up.

my reason: i dont like lynwood

my reason: i dont know i just dont like you

ps. that sucks

ok if skyline is allowed up

ok if skyline is allowed up then lynnwood should deserve the chance to play D1 ball also.

ok

ok well besides you not liking us wat LEGITIMATE reason do u have for us not moving up?

see the funny thing is there

see the funny thing is there is no reason i mean i could be like.. oh we lost to eastlake by 2 in our last game and u lost by 3 but comparing diff teams against other teams isnt fair so pretty much there is no legit reason besides the whole .. we lost no one you lost more. we have a feeder we have a field we have things i guess? i dunno but its not up to me so me not liking you is a reason enough

i'm pretty sure no one from

i'm pretty sure no one from lynnwood said anything about skyline losing anyone...

because they're not

because they're not

good luck

Good luck Lynnwood!

hey..

Lynnwood, if you want to move up and win way less than you lose, be my guest. Any D1 teams, if you want to play at a crappy field and beat the crap out of a crappy team, be my guest. You lost your all right crappy attackman, he was your offense, good luck, I hope you do well. Honestly, I want WALAX to be just as good as MALAX, so I honestly hope that if Lynnwood moves up that their players work hard enough to legitimize themselves as a team. I want Lynnwood players to laugh in my face come summertime; however, based off the facts, I don't think they can hack it in the real division.

ok...

if you think lynnwood players don't work hard then maybe you should get your self checked out. The Lynnwood program is two years old 1st year we went 2-10, then you look at last year 14-1, and you think we don't work hard. We will continue to work and get better, does everyone think that lynnwood thinks they're the best? Because we don't. AND didn't we already have this argument after the state championship (wether 1 player makes a full offense), everyone said "it doesn't matter if you were missing one player, 1 player doesn't make a team". Ok bloomquist had 40% of our goals, you can't win a game if you don't have the ball, So everyone is saying sean and casey was our team, both played attack. Then who was playing middy, defense, and goalie all of our games? I hope we move up to D1 so we can compete at a higher level and show that lynnwood is dedicated and works hard.

hey, we as a team, if we do

hey, we as a team, if we do move up, arent expecting any state championship, or even a playoff appearance or anything along those lines. so yeah we all want to move up and we have been working for it and will continue. but, we have been looking for a new field, and there are a couple field turf fields that may be available. but honestly, we have not lost our whole offense, we still have some guys that can make a difference for us. we will miss bloomquist, but he taught the offense how to be more efficient. so in the end, whether in DII or in DI, we will work better as a team. we worked all season to get to DI, and hopefully that is where we land. so no offense to any DI teams, but we want get better and eventually be able to really compete with the teams that have made a difference in washington lacrosse. but we all know that one player doesnt make a whole team, even in our case...

attitude adjustment

"[we] ARENT EXPECTING any state championship"
"[we] ARENT EXPECTING a playoff appearence"
"[we want to] EVENTUALLY be able to really compete with the teams that have made a difference in washington lacrosse"

maybe you should stay in dII until you do

you didnt hear Issaquah crying before they went to the state championship their first year out of dII

you didnt hear Vashon crying before they beat MI and went to the playoffs

Just joking around :P

...but you DID hear Issaquah crying when MI beat them in the state championship

...and you DID hear Vashon crying after MI slaughtered them in the playoffs winning 19-3 or something like that. First 15 goals were before the half, then the thrid strings took over the field. :)

not wanting to criticize anybody but just pointing that out for a laugh. :)

JVs and Wanna'bes ---- out of the pool!

Most of the noise here is from guys who have graduated and haven't made their college team yet or haven't made their own HS Varsity squad. How 'bout spending less time online trashing up-and-comers and get to the Wall.

that wasnt about trying to

that wasnt about trying to trash up-and-comers. im making a point that their just bringing themselves down not having high hopes and expectations. and me pointing out what issaquah and vashon did should make them realize that they have a chance to go to the championship and have a chance to make the playoffs INSTEAD of having the goal of being a decent to below average dI team

lol

Not the entire team but like 40%.

good thing...

that high school players don't make important league decisions. the fact is this, in order to become a Division I team, the ONLY rules are: a) having a board, b)a feeder program, c)an established program.
There are several programs in DI that have had down years. Don't be arrogant enough to presume Skyline is the dominant force in DII- all three programs have a great chance for success, and all three have fulfilled the requirements. Talent aside, by league rules- ALL THREE should be accepted into DI.

SKYLINE?

Come on, the only legit player on Skyline is Riley, Key will get there.. skyline isn't good, we beat them 14 to 1 and played the worst game of our lives. We shut out your champion ten to zero.. and didn't even score in the first quarter. Mercer desecrated them worse. Nearly all the teams in D1 are competing for a state championship. I was implying nothing, all im saying is.. you cant compete

.

i agree you guys did play hella bad cuz it was 1-0 @ the half i think.. but you have to understand that, for half the team that was like the 2nd month that they had played lacrosse atleast for me. we've def gotten better than then but im sure you'll still talk about how we all suck.

You’re right

Eastlake was crushed by Mercer and out played by Issaquah. But that was Eastlake’s fist experience playing against any DI team and like you said they shut you out the first quarter. Eastlake will just need some time to adjust to the fast offense and high pressure defense of DI.

I don’t remember the exact score but Vashon played Issaquah in 2005 (the year Vashon won DII) and lost by something like 14-2. Then in 2006 Vashon made the DI playoffs. So I don’t think you can base whether or not Eastlake will be able to compete by their first two DI games which were less than 24 hours apart and against the two best teams in the state.

just wondering

do you play for eastlake?

?

Yeah, I played last year but I graduated.

so this whole time you have

so this whole time you have been saying that lynnwood cant compete with DI teams, but not even your team is DI? i dont understand how you know so much about the kind of play in DI if you havent even expirienced it for yourself.

Actually…

If you read all of my comments you would know the last year Eastlake played two unofficial games against Issaquah and Mercer (the top two teams in DI) on back to back days and we were crushed. But, then we played you for the DII championship and we were in complete control of the game because we shut down Bloomquist on settled plays. (Both of Bloomquist’s goals were on man down)

skyline is losing what, 1

skyline is losing what, 1 player? an inexperienced goalie, who if anything weighed them down (not saying he did). so an all ready great dII is getting better with more experience and further good coaching. eastlake and lynwood on the other hand are losing their top players, so i dont see how they can top the growth that skyline is going to get. do you really think its fair to the parents of dII children who will be seeing their kids get absolutely man handled by them?

Re: skyline is losing what, 1
skyline is losing what, 1 player? an inexperienced goalie, who if anything weighed them down (not saying he did).
i should punch you in the face are you serious our goalie did not "weight us down"

i know you wrote "not saying he did" but i dont understand why you would say that unless you were implying he did

get your facts straight

holy mother of god, maybe if

holy mother of god, maybe if you read my post carefully or semi-carefully, you would find that i was saying that your team (skyline) is going to be the BEST out of the three in my opinion. just think before you start slinging your threats

i have to agree with

i have to agree with 2klacrosse. skylines goalie did anything but weigh them down. at times he carried the team and kept them in games. whoever said that he weighed the team down obviously never saw skyline play or played against them. after playin against them 3 times last year he proved to be one of their best players and kept many of game that might have gotten away from them close. that said hes goin to be big loss for skyline but they have enough young talent to develop into a competive in d1 team as do eastlake and skyline.
