.

i have played both box and field and i will have to admit....if i were a fan i'd much rather watch and NLL game because of how fast paced it is and how much more physical it is...yet on the other hand i enjoy playing field lacrosse bye far

alright..

quit being biased morons...

If you paid attention to anything, one NLL team draws nearly three times as many fans to one game as compared to one MLL team (around 10,000 to 3,500). A box team also gets to play in a professional arena, unlike every other MLL team but the Denver Outlaws. Youre talking out of your rear ends because you have never seen a box lacrosse game before.

You say this because you have only played field lacrosse, and if you have played box lacrosse, it is walax's indoor winter league and that is no where near a real indoor lacrosse game.

A box game is much more fast paced, and way more enjoyable than the one to three man show of an MLL game. Anyway, I'm speaking for myself... I just advise you to watch a live box game before you start denouncing the NLL.

mason ur quite

mason ur quite the know-it-all eh? get a life

So...anyone who disagrees

So...anyone who disagrees with you is a "biased moron"? Sad.

Maybe our disagreement is generationally and/or regionally based. I played field lacrosse in Baltimore in the 1960's. From that experience comes whatever "bias" you may accuse me of. I make no apologies for preferring the field game and the particular athletic skills it requires.

The box game is faster, but so what? I do not respect speed as much as I do endurance, passing, and toughness. The younger generation, with its emphasis on "extreme" sports, may embrace different values. I would not know.

As to economic issues, the marketplace will ultimately decide which is the more viable game (I hate to use the word "business" when discussing sports). However enjoyable the NLL game may be in person, television revenues will be the major determinant of success. Stay tuned.

well

Well not everyone, but you are. All I have ever played is field lacrosse, and in my short lacrosse tenure i havent set down my stick. I love field lacrosse just as much as the next man. However, for you chastise Bob Whitsitt for trying to bring professional lacrosse to Seattle in any embodiment is moronic. The people in the lacrosse community breathe the sport, and if he gets his team, I am certain it will do nothing but flourish.

And a last point in regards to.. "The box game is faster, but so what? I do not respect speed as much as I do endurance, passing, and toughness. The younger generation, with its emphasis on 'extreme' sports, may embrace different values. I would not know." The Canadian WLC team is comprised of nearly all true box players, and they beat our all true field players 15-10.

nice vocab

your big words sold it.. id much rather have NLL than MLL now

Re: If Seattle got a professional team, which would you prefer?

Bob Whitsitt is a smart man, but he is making a mistake in seeking a NLL team for Seattle. Perhaps he's betting (probably correctly) that the Sonics will leave for Oklahoma City after the 2006-2007 season. But is the action-hungry Seattleite likely to fill the post-Sonic void with indoor lacrosse? I doubt it.

Blessings on Whitsitt for wanting to promote lacrosse. That said, I would never trouble myself to attend the grotesque caricature of the game that is box lacrosse. The NLL is to MLL as Arena Football is to the NFL.

Whitsett has a wonderful opportunity to get in on the ground level of what can eventually become a major league franchise in a sport which has the potential to stand as the equal of the NHL or NBA. He should choose MLL.

NLL's new venture

The rumor I heard is that the NLL is starting an outdoor league with teams in all of the cities where it already has box franchises. So, I beleive Mr. Whitsitt is banking on having both a box franchise, and a field franchise. The draw of this league for the players will be that they can seek sponsorship from any equipment manufacturer, as opposed to the current MLL agreement with Warrior, Cascade..., which seriously limits the ability of the players to augment their salaries.

mll vs nll

isnt mll way better than nll i mean like in terms of publicity and skill why would u want a nll team fill me in please

actually no

mll is on espn, but as far as local coverage in cities that actually have teams, NLL has a abetter fan base, is more interesting to the non-laxer because of the fast paced play, and has better fan attendence on average. also, you do not see NLL as much as some of the teams are north of the border, where there is also semi-pro leagues that feed the pros, making the level of play higher than you would expect.
