Future All-Americans - Who are they?

Boy's Leagues

Who is the up and coming talent in our state (HS and MS)? Who do you expect to see as an All-American within the next few years?

All Americans

2007
1) Greg Mahony
2) Dylan Masi
3) Wild Card- Taylor Platt, Travis Wright, Nick Yaap

2008 and on...
Jaime Yergler (Curtis '09), Max Olsen (Bainbridge '08), Steven Taylor (MI '10, Chris Taylor's little bro), Jonny Wettack (MI '10, Tim Wettack's little bro) Of course the rest of the Mahonys- Doug, Peter, Glenn

AA

All Americans barring injury:
Dylan Masi- 3rd in the league in scoring last year as a junior
Greg Mahony-Top 5 in scoring last year, best shot in the league hands down
Bryan Gilbreath-My preseason player of the year, athletic skills are above and beyond anyone else in the league by alot. He is a lockdown defender and an imposing force at LSM. More than a little better than any defender in the league now that Mason Smith and Mike Gerrard are gone. Look at top offensive players' stats vs. BI, and that will tell the story. He was one vote from becoming an All American last year, edged by Jason Montoya.
Other Contenders- Travis Wright, that's the only guy I can think of for next year, I guess a couple bellevue guys could be in the mix, platt and the goalie
Guys who can become AAs if they stay on track: Curtis boys, Max Olson, Bryce Stevenson- bryce was a starter in the cage for BI as a freshman and was a stud, so I think if he stays on track he has a good opportunity to have a great career

Gilbreath

isnt Brian Gilbreath Bainbridges football messiah? i tend to see his name in the paper alot for hs football.

All-American

I think Masi and Mahony will be all americans this year. But I dont think that Platt or any other defenders will get it. If Gerrard didnt get it last year I can't see any defenders getting it this year

i agree

i agree mahoney will be an all-american for sure. but i dont know about masi, i think rusty haehl will make it over platt

haha

It was a joke Honey. they kicked our butts thats why i said that.

-

good joke.

Masonps

you are just mad we threw your season to an awesome abrupt conclusion

No you didn't

wtf...dude if you didnt know, you are talking to a kid in issaquah. Curtis never threw their season to a conclusion. Issaquah were in the finals, Curtis wasn't. So don't talk smack unless you're good enough to fool.

these people

who is tim wettack and sam shoenecker?
i have looked in the top 50 of both d1 and d2 and their names are not listed. can someone let me know? thanks a bunch!

Landon Carr

I think that Landon who plays for curtis will become an all american almost no doubt, and as the the comment of the 80 pound kid, hes a frigin amazing 80 pound kid.

hahaha yah sure he'll be

hahaha yah sure he'll be "all american almost no doubt" and you will be too right? yah ok. why dont we just call him all american now and save time if he'll be "all american no doubt". will he be sharing the all american honors with tim wettack and that shoenecker kid as well? ive never heard of this landon until maybe three or two weeks ago. but not until then. not even anything on the "best freshman" poll awhile back which he didnt win (pretty sure Riley Goodman did). being biased towards your teammates is usual but i wouldnt call this "bias", i would call it "stupidity"

hah

nice work "Austy", you couldn't be more right.

objective or subjective????

Would someone please enlighten me on the exact process and criteria used for selecting a Lacrosse All American? Who selects the Washington State Lacrosse All Americans? Is this process objective or subjective?

Hi

I thought I was being obvious who I was. Mason Parker Smith, played for Issaquah, just graduated. Going to ride the pine for WAC next year, hopefully getting some PT down the road. I like to argue. And I DO know Chris Moore. How about you Mr. Viking Lax, who are you?

Who are you Mason PS>?

Who are you Mason PS>? would you be confident enough to tell me? your comments are quite interesting.
what team do you play for?
thanks bro.

Uhhh...

I'm pretty sure this Mason is a very good defender that plays for Issaquah. I think he would be more than confident to tell you. He'll eat you. xD

ever heard of...

Jamie Yergler and Landon Carr.
both play for curtis.
both are going to be amazing when there senior year rolls around and they are already amazing now

nope

cant say that i have heard of Jamie Yergler or Landon Carr until this summer. so...were they just to amazing and god like for me to register them as such? or were they just good players surrounded by older players not as good as them, thus making them look better than they really are? which is it? i just dont know

First off, what team do you play for. and what did you play. im just curious

show some class...

In the way you comment publicly, and the way you play as well.  If you want to be an All-american, start by focusing on the game.  If you are that good, or play that well, your game will speak for itself.  If you don't focus on your game- you may be a great player who doesn't have a chance at being All-american because you are missing all the other parts aside from being capable on the field.  You don't want to make that decision hard for some coach during the all-american vote if you really are good enough do you?

i hope youre joking

One of those kids weighs like 80 pounds. 75% of your quarterfinal goals were by transition, its not like some hot rod freshmen piggy-backed your team to a 5 goal loss.

I wish the two good luck, but in my book, to say theyre going to get all american is going out on quite the limb. And if its one of the kids with rainbow mesh... he will never get it just by default.

It doesnt matter if 75% of

It doesnt matter if 75% of Curtis's goals were on transition. A goal is a goal! Plus neither of them have rainbow mesh.

amen to that

i like your style mason

amen to that

i like your style mason

.

what team do u play for?....honestly

ok...

so i've seen only one mention of brian gilbreath, the one who was 4th in all american voting this year, he is obviously going to get it barring injury. as for the others, it will probably be masi and mahoney, unless someone has a rediculous year and unseats one of these two.

*

how do you know he was 4th?

rethink that buddy, mike

rethink that buddy, mike gerrard.

except...

umm, last time i checked mike graduated, so he won't beplaying high school ball to be an all american next year, and if any little man will win it, it willbe masi.

MASI FOR PRESIDENT!

i dont think this gilbreath

i dont think this gilbreath kid is "obviously" going to make it if only there was "one mention" of him in this entire forum of 41 comments

well...

if you looked most of the comments are about MI players that do not have the last name mahoney, aka they are little more than role players and are not realistic choices for all american.

just quoting you tough guy

just quoting you tough guy

haha

i like the sound of that

Future

Caldwell from Garfield might be an all-american two years from now, maybe Travis Wright too. TP and Mahony next year for sure.

Wettack

Whoever Wettack or shoenecker is, they wont wont be all american. If half the lacrosse players in this state (or more than half) dont know who they are, how are the people from Under Armor or whoever decides who are all-american suppose to know? If Mike Gerrard didnt make all american, how are these two?

p.s. MILaxgroupie and BIG, your not funny doing your jokes on here, every one hates you

I Agree

BIG is quite obnoxious, but I'm not the only one who mentioned wettack as being mildly talented. So what if he doesnt make all-american (which he wont, all things considered) can you at least allow me to have a little pride in my team (as overrated as it may be at times)?

No

1. actually, you were the only person to mention wettack as "mildly talented"

2. being mildly talented wont make you all american

3. if you didnt think he was going to be "all american, all things condidered", why did you litter this forum with your idiotic, imprudent, foolish statements?

easy cowboy

This is High School Lacrosse. Though I recognize how intense people (myself included) can get over sports, insulting me over a mere comment about a player I support is uncalled for and quite frankly, petty. Dont take this so seriously.

Champ.

.

No one knows what school you go to, i swear......who is this wettack character? ive never even heard of him

Thank you teh-noon

finally someone who isnt from mi says something sensible. what did wettack do this year?? didnt hear his name at all.
mahoney, t wright, t platt, masi all americans

wettack will pwn you

there's footage of him making issy cry. everyone knows hes THE beast

oh really

thats weird because i saw "footage" of him getting his @$$ handed to him by travis wright on faceoffs.

here

tim wettack is a defensive midfielder for MI, hes decently athletic, has no stick skills. Number 35, power cradles up the field one handed. The good MI kids have class, this laxgroupie guy is a joke

Greg Mahony

Greg Mahony is defintly going to be all-american this year and maybe, maybe Tim Wettack who is a superb d-middie that can move the ball up for MI no problem. In addition, fellow islander middie Sam Franklin I think in a couple of years can be an all-american. Sam mainly played face offs this year for MI but he is a beast, and he is a hella of a nice guy as well.

..

If a defensive mid fielder ever got all-american in this state, I would throw up

HAHA

How do you spell All-American?
C-H-R-I-S T-A-Y-L-O-R!
Now remind me what position he played.....oh yea defensive mid fielder. And in what state? WA

bummer man, get your facts right. hope you dont barf out all your intelligent guts

dude, chris taylor played

dude, chris taylor played offensive midfield. he plays d-mid for georgetown probably got those 2 confused
