Best Attack, Middie, D-Man & Goalie

With the obvious differences in these positions, we should spend our time discussing the best at each position rather than try to say that some midfielder was better than some attackman or D-stick. If you had to pick only one guy for the following positions, who would it be, and why?

Attackman
Midfielder
Long-stick Middie
Face-off Specialist
Defenseman
Goalie

If you could pick just 6 guys to build a team around, who would they be? Lay 'em on the table fellas.

Here's mine:
Attack: Adam Smith (scoring machine)
Middie: Todd Thorpe (great player, even greater guy)
Long-stick Middie: Spencer Evans (natural position for this animal)
FOGO: Ben York (one word -- SICK!)
Defenseman: I like Dylan Preble for his versatility
Goalie: Alex Jaques (really quick stick)

I'm sure I'll get some heat for picking a bunch of BI guys. Honestly, I'm not from BI and didn't even realize I'd picked so man Islanders untill I was finished with the list. Go ahead and pick it apart, but not unless you're going to give me yours as well.

todd thorpe

todd thorpe is downright amazing as a player

and as another thing he has done so much for washington lacrosse.

goalie

i choose Raheem. hes hella good.

kinney, no one knows who

kinney, no one knows who raheem is, not that he's not hella good, he's just not the best.

Olin

John Olin, wait until he's a junior. He takes more shots than any other goalie in D1 and maintains a save rating in the 60 percentile. If you want a D2 goalie, gotta chose Parpia.

agree

Johno is hella good i give him and adam from mercer top spots next year

Get Serious Guys

We're talking the BEST all-time. You must be in the wrong forum topic.

All Time Washington Lacrosse Team

I am a dad from the previous decade who had a two time all state goalie that played for Eastside in their glory years. His goals allowed was under 3/game for his career. He and Brandon Foriter plus a bunch of other Eastside players gave Bainbridge all they could handle.
He was invited to walk-on at Towson State, a perenial Top 15 program. He made the team, got to play mop up duty against Drexel and Hobart. When he put his stick away Towson made the final 4 when he was a 5th year senior.
He played for two future Hall of Fame coaches in Carl Runk and Tony Seaman. He has been lucky enough to work summer camps with all of the greats, Gary Gait, Tom Marachek and others.
He has been coaching the last 6 years and has done well.
Might I add Tyler Martin, Eastside Goalie. I may be biased but I have yet to see anyone better who could control the crease and shut down a team.
TowsonLaxDad

i suppose i'll start off

i suppose i'll start off with my critique:
Attack-Smith: great choice
Middie-Thorpe: good as well, although there's a bunch of others in there
LongPole-Evans: yea, thats what he plays at DU
FOGO-York: i still think he was overrated,but i dislike fogo's in general
Dman-Preble: great choice
Goalie-Jaques: again, great choice

My Team:
Attack: toss up between smith, spivey and vanderhoek. ive seen them all play and played with all of them, they beat out anybody else in the state.
Middie:thorpe is good, also kelten johnson, chris taylor, and jordan bailey
Long Pole: i would stick with evans, also jeff jorve
FOGO-good rivalry here Zach Smith vs. Ben York
Dman-Preble hands down for the versatility(gb's, checks, hits, goals, assists)
Goalie: im with jaques all the way.

yea i may get some heat too for mostly BI guys, but thats the way it is. for the last 15 years BI has produced too many quality players to count. im not saying other programs dont do it, but BI has got the numbers to prove my point. in the next five years though this list will include more MI, some garfield and some issaquah kids.
