3rd Annual Space Needle Shootout Dates Announced

Headline News
Seattle, WA – Coming off a successful trip to the Sonoma Shootout in July, the Seattle Starz look forward to the 3rd Annual Space Needle Shootout December 8-10th. 32 Teams are expected to visit the ‘Emerald City’ for the 2006 Space Needle Shootout from Dec 8-10 at the Starfire Sports facility. This year the tournament is open to boy’s teams in the youth, middle school, HS and HS elite age groups.

“Last year was a huge success, we attracted traveling teams from around the West Coast and Canada” said Fred Wilmot, Starz Northwest Regional Director. “The talent pool in the NW is growing dramatically and it’s really showing with the number of players being recruited by D1 programs from the West Coast. Last year alone 40 Starz players went on to play college ball with 23 going to D1 programs. This sends a huge message about the quality and caliber of west coast lacrosse in general” “With that being said, we’re hoping to attract several of those East Coast teams as well as other Starz teams from around the country”

About Starz
Starz was founded in 2004 by Scott Hochstadt, three times All-American Attackman at the University of Maryland, who played professional lacrosse in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and National Lacrosse League (NLL). Scott is now the Offensive Coach of the San Francisco Dragons.

The Seattle Starz was the first Northwest Starz team created and directed by Fred Wilmot and has grown to five teams in step with the growth in Seattle. There are a total of 3 Starz programs currently in the Northwest comprised of Seattle, Oregon and Tacoma. Wilmot has been instrumental in the success of the program both in Seattle and the Northwest development of Starz as the Regional Director. Future plans include development in Utah, Idaho, Canada, Washington and Oregon.
