Hale v Mukilteo
Nathan Hale played Mukilteo in an Exh. tournament game this past weekend on the east side of the mountains and it was close. Granted it was an Exh. game but it looked like both teams had there full squad there. Mukilteo won 6 to 3. Hopefully the D2 playoff system will be adjusted for future years to come.
you must be crazy
hale did not have their full squad, not even close. they were missing 7 out of their 10 starters, where mukilteo was missing just 1. not mention hale had just played a game an hour before hand, meaning they were tired and hot already, while mukilteo was fresh off their bus. hale also had to wake up earlier to get to the tournament (jamboree?), where mukilteo likely got a full night of sleep. hale had every disadvantage and almost got the W.
Stadium vs Kingsway
I'm lovin' those Stadium men. They keep fighting hard and coming out on top!
In the championship game it
In the championship game it is going to be Seattle Prep vs. Overlake/Nathan Hale/Norththshore. Seattle Prep will most likely win out its upper half of the bracket with Redmond posing a threat, but SP offense is to overpowering. Then if the playoffs were to be played today the first round would have Hale vs. Northshore which is a toss up then the winner plays Overlake, which is also a toss up between the three teams. So once playoffs start it is going to be really good competion down in D2.
Playoffs
Championship: Seattle Prep vs. Overlake
*Redmond is a strong team but Seattle Preps offense will overpower a young Redmond defense to make it to the finals.
*If Nathan Hale comes out strong in what potentialy could be their game vs. Overlake it might be Hale instead of Overlake. However, Overlake seems like a more balanced team.
Mukilteo
Mukilteo COULD make the playoffs.
Shouldn't count them out yet, nslax11!!
Seattle Prep
We played Seattle Prep, and even though the game was closer than the score indicated, I think Seattle Prep could beat Redmond.
Top 10 in D2
1. Seattle Prep
2. Redmond
3. Northshore
4. Nathan Hale
5. Mukilteo
6. Overlake
7. Tacoma
8. Snohomish
9. Stadium
10. Lake Tapps
D2 Finals
I think that Redmond and Seattle Prep should be a good game but they can't see each other in the Finals unless Redmond gets 2nd in their league. When they do play, I think Seattle Prep will win. On the other side of the brackett, I think that Northshore will play Nathan Hale, and the winner of that game will go to the finals. I dont think Tacoma has what it takes to go to the Championship because they lost to Mukilteo by 7. And Mukilteo probably wont even make the playoffs!
2009
I know it's not 2009 prediction forums but I just wanted to give a shout out to a team that isn't recieving a lot of attention. Kings Way, of vancouver, washington. Kings Way gave us one of the best games of lacrosse i've ever seen/played in. They may have a loosing record in confrence but lost by 1 goal in so many games. Look out for this team next year, their defense is crazy.
If possible?
I'm not sure if this is possible, due to conferences, and scheduling.
But the four teams I see at the top near the end of the season are; Redmond, Overlake, Prep, and Hale.
Any insight on this?
redmond and prep playoffs
If redmond and prep stay #1 in their conferences, they will meet in the semi-finals.
Redmond
You got to like Redmond's chances in the championship game against Prep if both should get there. They have without question the best defense in D2. They held one of the most powerful offenses in the league in Northshore to 4 goals, which is the only single digit scoring that Northshore has put up aside from exhibitions against Issaquah, 5, and Prep, 9.
but when redmond stalls the
but when redmond stalls the ball for 5min a quarter before taking a shot NS should only be in single digits
Best Denfenses D2
1. Seattle Prep
2. Overlake
3. Redmond
4. Northshore
5. Nathan Hale
redmond and prep in semifinal
redmond and prep can't meet in the final, they would meet in the semifinal. the other half of the final is likely to be Stadium, Tacoma, or Overlake
Top 10
1. Seattle Prep: Overall very strong team
2. Redmond: 2nd best undefeated team
3. Northshore: Next game vs. Redmond will tell a lot
4. Nathan Hale: Last regular season game vs. Prep
5. Overlake: Only losses to Prep and Hale
6. Tacoma: Tied for first in Evergreen
7. Mukilteo: Strong offensive cappability
8. Whatcom: First in Skagit
9. Klahowya: First in Olympic
10. Snohomish: Plays in the hardest conference.
Top 10 as of now
1. Seattle Prep
2. Redmond
3. Northshore
4. Nathan Hale
5. Mukilteo
6. Overlake
7. Stadium
8. Snohomish
9. Whatcom
10. Tacoma
It's all pretty close though; should make for a great battle!
good stuff but...
klahowya hasn't played anyone just yet, the win over tacoma was impressive, they have two other wins, south kitsap and a forfeit win over north kitsap...they have a tough late season schedule, including at lake tapps, at stadium, at snohomish and at D1 puyallup, so we will see how that late tough schedule works for them. Will they make the playoffs, yes, are they in the top ten...not right now!
Stadium
Yeah and stadium just beat Klhowya
i don't see why we're not getting any love
but we'll fly under the radar thats cool i like it like that
LaxFan's Sidenote
Laxfan:
I agree with your side note about the Cascade conference. Seems that the DII playoff structure is off-balance this year. Maybe next year it will change to something similar to D1 playoff.
BTW: don't ya think Northshore would move up to DI after Seattle Prep and Redmond go back to DI?
Those two teams seem just as qualified for DI as Northshore.
prep and redmond
they were relegated due to no jv team and or no true feeder programs (youth teams)I believe, which is a requirement for D1 in our league...as far as the playoff system, it is balanced, there is just one REALLY strong conference
agree!
about one really strong conference.
Those four teams (Redmond, NS, Mukilteo, Snoho) will battle it out for the two playoff spots.
oh yes
and it will be a lot of fun to watch! I do think there are a few teams though that should at least entertain D1 status in the next year...
Northshore
Tacoma
Snohomish
next two years...
Lake Tapps
Mukilteo
Redmond
My reasons are solely because I believe that the goal of all D2 teams should be to eventually strengthen the program well enough to reach D1 status and the work hard in D1 to eventually compete.
Vashon Island dominated D2 and now is competitive in D1, Eastlake, and skyline have done just fine at the D1 level, Lynnwood has struggled, but I think it is more internal than anything, and of course, issaquah has been something special.
Snohomish is the program I feel needs to do it, because the program has stalled and needs some new goals and I think D1 is a legitmate place for them to be right now!
I know this was a tangent, but it was on my mind!
top 10
1. SEATTLE PREP - Beat weak D1 team, has that ever happened before?
2. REDMOND - Only because they beat northshore
3. NORTHSHORE - Solid program ready to jump to D1 next year!
4. NATHAN HALE - lost to seattle prep by 1, beat Overlake, whatcom by 2 and blanchet by 1. Close wins mean playoff ready!
5. MUKILTEO - they have to outscore you to win, but do that very well!
6. OVERLAKE - Consistent team that will make another playoff run, can they stop late season collapse?
7. WHATCOM - Big game against overlake later in april, that will tell us how good they really are
8. STADIUM - weak confernece = first round playoff loss.
9. SNOHOMISH - even with losing record they are one of the top ten teams in the state
10. TACOMA - They have a lot to prove after a huge loss to Mukitleo
Side note, Only two teams from the tough cascade conference can go to the playoffs - Redmond, northshore, mukilteo and snohomish. Should be exciting to watch!
Tacoma
in their defense it was a exhibition.
doesn't matter
you still play exhibition games to win.
.
o I know I totally agree, i'm jsut saying maybe they were trying new things, that didn't work out that great
nah
from what I hear, it was a closer game than what the score showed, but, it wasn't scheduled as a game to try new things, it was to test themselves against another team in another conference that may be a playoff team. Same reason why Whatcom has nathan hale and overlake scheduled, because thier division is weaker, so they are playing some teams they may see in the playoffs...
close
the first half was very close and competitive, but the second half was all Mukilteo as Tacoma's defense absolutely fell apart...
Tacoma
in their defense it was a exhibition.
Tacoma
in their defense it was a exhibition.
Rankings
1. Seattle Prep: strong all around team
2. Redmond: very solid goalie play, good team
3. Northshore: a lot of youth, but no surprise that they are a top contender
4. Nathan Hale: lot of strong players make them tough to beat
5. Overlake: strong on clears and ball movement
New Rankings
1. Seattle Prep: Best undefeated team in the division
2. Redmond: Total surprise
3. Northshore: Only loss to Redmond
4. Overlake: Inconsistent team, but a huge playoff contender
5. Nathan Hale: Only beat Blanchet by 1 in OT
When Blanchet lost to
When Blanchet lost to Overlake, two of their starting attack were out with concussions they sustained in their previous game.
North Kitsap- forfeits?
Anyone know why all of their games are listed as forfeits? Were they not able to field a full team? I was just curious.
Done for the season
Unfortunately they've folded for the season as they were short of players. I believe the plan is to be back next year.
1. Seattle Prep 2.
1. Seattle Prep
2. Overlake
3. Redmond
4. Nathan Hale
5. Northshore
rankings
Now that Hale beat Overlake.. that should shake things up
New Rankings
1. Seattle Prep: A lot of talent, major playoff contender.
2. Overlake: Strong second half team, needs to start off faster.
3. Northshore: Tied for first in Cascade, game vs. Redmond will show a lot.
4. Redmond: Huge transformation after dropping from D1.
5. Tacoma: Lost talent from last year but starts off strong at 3-0.
Goalies will carry Northshore and Redmond far into the playoffs.
Both teams have excellent goalies as was witnessed in Friday's game between the two. Some absolutely sick saves by both goalies made this a close defensive battle. Anything close to ordinary goaltending and the score would have ben more like 13-10. Stuart Dransfield of Northshore and John Olin of Redmond may be the two best goalies in D-2.
Besides keith jones who is
Besides keith jones who is highline's goalie
New rankings?
Snohomish went down hard to a Redmond team that's the remnents of a 1-15 Eastside team last year. I don't see Snohomish as a top 5 school.
predictions for top 10
looks like everything just got shook up to me, take a look or just ask about the northcountry invitational.
Stadium and Overlake were the only undefeated teams in the whole tournament out of 4 pre championship games.
Stadium beat snohomish and lake tapps by pretty large margins givin the 40 minute running clock. Overlake as well knocked off NH no prob. Some of you need to do some rethinking
Top 5 D2
Although the tournament was somewhat sloppy, Overlake came away with first place.
1. Seattle Prep
2. Overlake
3. Northshore
4. Nathan Hale
5. Snohomish
Sloppy?
What do you mean the tournament was sloppy?
hale yes...
nathan hale #1
Tacoma
Tacoma should be in a rebuilding year, they have solid juniors but lost starting midfield line, goalie, and 2 on attack not to mention most of the second line middies but next year looks pretty good. maybe they make a playoff run
Kings Way?
Aren't they a new team? If so, were they able to feed in former players of other programs for this season? Anyway, #4 seems very high for them at this point.
yep, kings way is new but...
They are just new to our WHSBLA league, they have had a team for a bit from what I understand. And they have been able to compete against some really solid oregon teams
