Altered but not damaged for the Holidays

December 20th, This Saturday! Goalie Aaron Fenton and Midfielder Matt Striebel come to Seattle for a Christmas Walax clinic you can't miss!  A goalie offensive players fear, and an offensive cannon Goalies fear will coach against each other in a one-of-a-kind clinic.

We are fortunate to have Matt come and fill on such a short notice during the Holiday Season. We apologize for the change in personel and would like wish Jake Byrne the best of luck in playing for the San Jose Stealth NLL franchise this weekend. Though we look forward to having back the talent that Jake would have brought to the table.  Fortunately for us at Walax, we got a present early as 3-time All-American, National Champion, MLL All-Star, and MVP Midfielder Matt Striebel IS COMING TO SEATTLE. A well educated and coached player, Striebs is widely regarded as one of the best Midfielders playing the game.  We are fortunate for him to come to Seattle for this limited time only!!!

In this four hour clinic, expect Aaron "Ace of Spades" Fenton to work with goalies for three hours individually, focusing on technique, stance, step, arc movement, communication, and positioning.  Then Aaron will coach his prodigy goalies against shooters coached by one of the best shooters in the game.

Aaron attended Duke University before being selected by the San Francisco Dragons.  2006 was his MLL Rookie seasons were he appeared In 2 games. Played in his first professional game on 6/3 @ Chicago where he allowed 1 goal and recorded 4 saves, and played 8:36 on 7/8 vs Chicago allowing 1 goal and recording 1 save.

In the Spring of '05 he completed a spectacular senior season helping Duke to the NCAA Championship Game. On the season made 210 saves with a .629 save percentage. In 2005 he received the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award (NCAA Goalie of the Year). Named Division I National Goalie of the Year in 2005 in addition to being named 1st Team All American, 1st Team All Atlantic Coast Conference and was named to the ACC All Tournament Team. Mr. Fenton was selected as Duke's Defenseman of the Year and was Duke's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. As a junior was selected as Duke's Co-Defenseman of the Year after recording 122 saves.

At the same time……on the other half of the field, Matt Striebal, MLL All-star, and former NCAA Champion from Princeton University, will teach the other side of the ball.  Matt will spend 3 hours teaching the art of shattering goalie egos with release points, dodging, hand positioning, angles on the field, and other scoring trickery to beat goalies.  The last hour will pit shooters against goalies with both groups evaluated by the coaches to make sure they put the 3-hour clinic into motion.

Striebel played at Princeton University in New Jersey and helped the Tigers to three final four appearances and the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. Striebel was a three time All-American while at Princeton.

Matt began his Pro career in the league’s inaugural season with the Barrage while the team was still in Bridgeport, CT. Striebel has helped the Barrage win three Steinfeld Cup championships in 2004, 2006, and 2007, and was presented with the 2007 Steinfeld Cup Game Most Valuable Player Award. He has over 100 career goals and over 60 assists in 6 seasons with the Barrage. Matt is widely regarded as being very crafty and “excellent when shooting on the run”.
In addition to his field lacrosse career, Striebel played one season in 2003 of box lacrosse with the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League.
