GAMBIER, Ohio (April 21, 2006)– On a rain-soaked afternoon, the Kenyon College Lords held the Colorado College Tigers in check and cruised to a 16-10 win Friday. The 16 goal-outburst marks the second-best offensive output by Kenyon this spring. Luke springs for a 5-2 day, and sits third in the league in scoring!
In a match that was delayed for over an hour by lightning, ColoradoCollege (6-3) jumped out to an early 1-0. The Lords responded and flexed their muscles on the offensive end, putting together strings of five unanswered and four answered goals, while holding the Tigers scoreless for the final 17 minutes of the half. KC used the scoring outbursts and took a 9-2 advantage into the intermission.
Junior Luke Larson (
Mercer Island, WA/SeattleAcademy) kept the momentum squarely in the Lords' corner, as he scored with just under two minutes gone in the third period to give the home team a commanding eight-goal advantage. He added to his team-leading goal count, collecting five more goals, giving him 30 for the season. Larson aided on two other KC scores. The Lords, now at 9-2 overall, jump back into conference action a week from Saturday. The Lords travel to Granville to take on DenisonUniversity, a team they defeated earlier this season for the first time since 1977. Face-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
