May 19, 2006 Milford, MA:: Two of the world's top lacrosse players and members of the Brine Pro Player R&D Team, Casey Powell and Mikey Powell, have decided not to play in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) this season.
Mikey will be focused on launching the third collection of his own signature line of lacrosse equipment, footwear, and apparel products. As Director of Programming for Brine Method, Casey will be focused on launching his own unique holistic lacrosse training programming that will include individual skill development products, speed, strength and agility training aids and programs, and game improvement equipment.
Both Casey and Mikey are also in training for the 2006 ILF World Championships that will take place in London, Ontario, Canada from July 13th - July 22nd. They will join their brother, Ryan Powell, who is also a member of the U.S. Men's National Team. Ryan has decided to continue to play in the MLL and was recently traded to the expansion San Francisco Dragons from the Rochester Rattlers.
Additionally, the three brothers will be holding camps in Texas, Oregon, California and Connecticut this summer as part of their new camp company, Powell Brothers Lacrosse.
While at Syracuse University, Casey Powell was a four time All-American and was honored as the Attackman of the Year (1997 and 1998) and National Player of the Year (1998). Casey was a four-time MLL All-Star during his tenure with the Long Island Lizards and Rochester Rattlers, and he currently leads the MLL in all-time assists. Mikey Powell was the 1st pick in th e 2004 draft for the Baltimore Bayhawks. After sitting out a season to focus on his equipment line at Brine, he finished the 2005 season as the MVP of the MLL-All Star Game and a key player on the Bayhawks 2005 MLL Championship team.
