Last weekend the Seattle Rainz High School Team traveled to San Diego for the Adrenaline Challenge at Robb Athletic Fields. There were 12 teams in the tournament from California, Texas and Washington.
After arriving on Friday evening, Rainz started off Saturday morning with a 9:00 am game against the San Diego Rip High School team, which resulted in an 8-8 tie. After the game, the girls had a clinic with the Temple University Women’s Lacrosse Assistant Coach, Nicole Moore. Then Rainz headed off to their second game of the day against San Diego LaxDawgs White and finished strong with a 16-6 win. This game was followed by a “chalk talk” from a NCAA coach who watched them play. Rainz enjoyed a little lunch break and walk around vendor’s row before their third game of the day. The third and final game of the day was against San Diego LaxDawgs Royal. This was an intense game that was tied for most of the time, but in the last minutes Rainz was able to hold the LaxDawgs and won the game 9-7. This was a great way to end the day and leave the fields, in 3rd place out of 12 teams.
Sunday began a little earlier with the first game starting at 8 am. Rainz played hard, but were unable to come out with the win. The final score was SoCal Quad Cities Elite 14, Seattle Rainz 4. A few Rainz players were approached by the Santa Clara coach after the game, which was very exciting!
Before the second game on Sunday, there was an all-star game comprised of players voted to the all-star game by the Rainz coach as well as other NCAA coaches who were watching the games. The all-stars for Seattle Rainz were, Caroline Mahoney, Allie Wilson, Sydney Dahl, Natalie Ceis and Molly Anderson. Following the all-star game, Rainz played the San Diego LaxDawgs Elite team and were joined on the sidelines by a guest coach, Wynn Lobel from Pacific University in Oregon. The girls then headed of to a clinic with a women’s lacrosse coach from Cal! After the first 5 games, Seattle Rainz was ranked 6th in the weekend standings and played a consolation game against the San Diego LaxDawgs White team. Tired and happy, the team headed back to Seattle content with their representation of girls lax in the Northwest.
