North County draws from 5

North County draws from 5 different high schools. Lynden, Nooksack Valley, Mt. Baker, Blaine, and Meridian. The Whatcom Warriors draw from 4 high schools. Bellingham, Squalicum, Sehome and Ferndale. So which school and mascot do you pick from?

Thats a tough one but...

I would say go with the high school that you are most influenced by - not only where the most of your players come from, but also where you practice and play your games. So for North County I would say go with Lynden and for Whatcom I would say Bellingham since that would have the highest name recognition for people who don't live in whatcom county. I'm not from way up north, but thats what i'd do...

Ture, however...

There will still be a giant league of club teams if the WIAA picks up lacrosse. Only the schools that want/can afford lacrosse will have it. Lets take Whatcom for example, most of thier kids are from Sehome and Ferndale, if Bellingham HS decided to pick up the sport of lacrosse (highly unlikely in the next 5 yrs), there will still be a whatcom club team with kids from ferndale, squalicum and sehome. The biggest impact we can have is to continue to grow, reach more areas (eastside of the mountains, greater seattle area, olympia). But I think the AD's and the WIAA are starting to realize how strong this sport is, and that we are not going away! it will happen, but when it does, just remember there will still be a WHSBLA club league for quite some time!

It would be a lot easier to

It would be a lot easier to get lacrosse sanctioned if we didn't have new lacrosse clubs like Silver Lake giving themselves names that don't line up with a local high school. Why can't they just call themselves Everett, Cascade, or Jackson, and then if lacrosse were to be sanctioned, things would fall into place much more easily. If every team went by its high school's name and mascot, we would look so much more legit to the WIAA to be sanctioned! Of course I'm only using Silver Lake as an example (there are many more), but we need to try and get things lined up so the transition would be as smooth as possible to convince the WIAA to santion lacrosse!

Some teams are split between

Some teams are split between two high schools and many of them are rivals anyways. Take Inglemoor and Bothell for example... They are rivals in every single sport except they make up one lacrosse team. If that team was called Inglemoor, many Bothell kids wouldn't play for a team named after their rivals. Trust me, we tried.

Well thats how it'll be if

Well thats how it'll be if it gets sanctioned so might as well get used to it now.

So then there wouldnt be any

So then there wouldnt be any point in sanctioning it yet if it would make less people play when we are trying to grow the sport.
