UW 9 - Chico 11 | UW: Chico State defeated Washington 11-9 in a "down-to-the-wire" thriller. CSU was led by 230-lb Attackman Andy Wesley (3 goals/2 assists) and Middie Rob Minebress (4/1). UW Goalie Nick Pollock recorded 15 saves for the Huskies (58%). Brett Schwager (3/0); Ben Eder (2/1) and Justin Penn (2/1) led UW in scoring. Congrats to Coach Kehoe and the Wildcats, and thanks for making the trip! CHICO: |

UW 15 - Gonzaga 8 | UW: UW evened it's record to 1-1 with an easy win over a spirited and game bunch of Zags. Every Husky Player got significant playing time, including back-up Goalies Dave Calhoun and Ryan Wood. Drew DeMarie was a force all over the field for Gonzaga. Coach John Hluboky (Maryland) deserves kudos for Goanzaga's strong debut. The 'Zags are going to be a contender soon, they have some nice talent. Thanks for coming to Seattle for your PNCLL/USLIA debut! GONZAGA: It's good to be back in the League. |

UW:
Wow, is SFU talented! As if they needed it, now the Clansmen have depth, speed and freshman talent to go with all their returning stars. Andy Martin is the best player that the PNCLL has ever produced, and they have so many weapons it's almost unfair. The second midfield line of Farina, Schmidt and Yuen is phenomenal. Don't see how anybody can beat them this year, and when they get their best player (Pete Morgan) back after basketball season, the Canadians will surely roll. Our goalie single-handedly kept the score from being much worse with 26 saves, many coming against wide-open shooters from point-blank range. SFU: This was a decent game for us. We got off to a good start but ran into penalty trouble in the second half. UW played a good game and their goalie played great. Thanks to the Huskies for coming up and good luck to them in the rest of their season. |

WSU 23 - Gonzaga 2 | WSU: It was a mud filled game with occasional snow flurries, but we still had a good game. The score was not representative of the game, Gonzaga played hard for a brand new team. A new star Josh Saunders had a wonderful day in the cherry orchard, with nine goals picked. Defense played a good game but it was hard with all the penalties. Good game Gonzaga, good luck this spring. Gonzaga: no comment. |

OSU 9 - PLU 10 (OT) | OSU: PLU: The game was a battle going back and forth with no less than a two point lead for either team at a given time. The offense, led early by Tackitt and Henderson, jumped on OSU early with two quick goals, but OSU rebounded quickly with goals of their own. The game was neck and neck until the final minute and a half when OSU was leading 9-7. Bergren's goal shifted the momentum and was accompanied by an unreleasable penalty which put the Lutes man up for the rest of the game. A game tying score by Tackitt with 20 seconds left sent the game into overtime. The Lutes began overtime with man up and possession, and quickly capitalized with the game winner by Johnson. Thanks Beavers for making the trip and playing a great game. |

UO 11 - PLU 12 (OT) | UO: PLU: U of O got off to a flocking great start going up 4-0, the Lutes answered with two goals of their own. U of O added two more goals before halftime, and then the Lutes rebounded in the third quarter with five goals to U of O's one. The score was tied after three, and the fourth quarter was a battle with both teams scoring four goals, the game tying score for the Lutes coming with only seconds left. In OT the Lutes won the face off leaving rookie Diggs wide open for his first goal of the season, a game winner. Great game guys. |

| 301 | Linfeld 5 - L&C 13 | Linfeld: L&C: It was a Lewis and Clark Pioneers -- Linfield Wildcats, battle on the new Griswald turf. The Wildcats hung tough and were only down by a goal at the half (5-4). The Pioneer's depth seem to pull through, with seven different players scoring goals. Ben Stoddard, had 6 assists before having to prematurely leave the game. Galen Clark had a walloping 6 goals to lead the Pios to 13-5 victory. |

| 302 | UW 9 - OSU 6 | UW: Our first midfield line provided all the goals and a swarming, agressive Husky defense led by Nick Hunter, Allen McKenzie and Jeff McGaughran in front of back-up Goalie Dave Calhoun led Washington to the hard-fought win over the vastly improved OSU team. We keyed on Huffman and Cruickshank and were mostly successful at stopping two of the Beaver's best players but Chad Stelling (#15) played great. We were just a little faster than OSU and perhaps more accustomed to playing on the rug than them. Coach Frost is doing a great job elevating OSU into a legitimate Div. I contender and the Beavers were a class act, although the crowd got a little boisterous and rowdy. Very nice 4th quarter come-back by them, and we feel fortunate to escape with the ""W"". Good luck the rest of the way Beavs and thanks for hosting us in your beautiful stadium! OSU: |

| 304 | WWU 9 - PLU 10 | WWU: Great game on PLU's part, a battle all the way; good game PLU. PLU: Huge win for PLU! The Lutes came out slow to start off the game, but made their customary comback in the pivotal third quarter. Trailing 6-4, we came out in the second half and scored three in a row to take the lead. The game went back and forth until the end with Luke Balash coming up big with two minutes to play. Thanks to the Vikings for an incredible game, and we look forward to playing at Wazzu in two weeks. (2nd report) The game started out a little slow for PLU, who trailed 6-2 at one point, but a late rally in the second quarter made it 6-4 at the half. Another strong 3rd quarter gave PLU the lead going into the 4th quarter, but the gritty Vikings from Bellingham pressed the game right down to the wire. PLU had to score with 2 minutes left to go up by one and WWU had the ball Man-Up as time expired. Goalie Herb Lehman had a superb day with 20 AWESOME saves and Rookie Jeff Carroll scored his first official goal of the season, while seniors Billy Tackitt (4) and Luke Balash (3) led a balanced offensive attack for the Lutes. Great game Vikings, thanks for making the trip. |

They played tough but we were able to pull away in the second and third. Bigstick Derek Wintermans played goal in the 4th, and despite playing well gave up goals on three straight 6 on 4 man-ups for Whitman. Good game Whitman, thanks for coming up and good luck the rest of the season. |

| 406 | Whitman 7 - WWU 11 | Whitman: WWU came out strong in the first quarter and scored a couple of quick goals. A strong 2nd quarter by Whitman brought the score to 6-3 at halftime. Whitman was outscored 4-1 in the third quarter as we just could not get into an offensive rhythm. The Missionaries put in a couple more in the fourth, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Good game played by all, and good luck to WWU the rest of the way. WWU: |

| 408 | WSU 4 - SFU 15 | WSU: We started out strong with a 3-2 lead. Then SFU came back and lead 6-3 at the half. In the second half SFU's numbers and stick skills took affect. Good game Fraser, hope to see you in the play-offs. SFU: The Cougs played a really good game. Our offense was out of sync early in the game and their defense played well. Early in the second quarter WSU had the lead at 3-2 after a bad clear by SFU. That seemed to wake us up and we were able to shut them down until they got a goal in the last minute. Both goalies played well especially considering the thick fog that was there the whole game. Congrats to WSU on a great game and good luck to them the rest of the season. |

| 409 | LMU 6 - UW 9 | Loyola Marymount: UW: Great win for the Huskies! We jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed, but LMU played well in the second half and had us worried. | 501 | LMU 7 - WWU 12 | Loyola-Marymount: WWU: Despite biting cold, freezing rains, and torrent winds the Vikings managed to overcome the elements of the Pacific Northwest and come out victorious over the Californians of Loyola-Marymount University. A hard fought battle all the way on Marymount's part which, at one point, lead to them being up by one goal on the Vikings. But showing both courage and testicular-fortitude the vikings came back and held the lead for the rest of the game. Thanks for coming up, LMU. Good game and good luck with the rest of your season. |

| 502 | UPS 2 - Whitman 21 | UPS: Whitman: Whitman had control from the get-go, as they put seven goals into the net by the end of the 1st quarter. Throughout the game, Whitman did well to exploit the UPS defense, as attackmen Calvert and Transgrud scored one goal after another. The middies also played a solid game and had the upperhand in groundballs. The defense was given many chances to rest, and wasn't really tested at any point in the game. Thank you to UPS for coming out. Good luck the rest of the way. |

| 504 | Gonzaga 4 - SFU 35 | Gonzaga: SFU: This game was never really close. Gonzaga had a really short bench and a lot of new players. We scored 25 goals in the first half but Gonzaga's goalie must have had at least that many saves. He played really well. But give them credit they never gave up and played hard all the way through and scored a few in the second half. Thanks a lot for coming up to play us and good luck the rest of the season. |

| 505 | PLU 5 - WSU 11 | PLU: We have to hand it to WSU. They have a lot of talent and speed and utilized both to take advantage of the road-weary Lutes. It was 7-4 going into the fourth quarter but fatigue overcame the Lutes starting middies and the Cougs tagged on four goals to pull away. Ryan Kelly may not score a bunch of goals but his presence on the offensive end opens up a lot for his teammates. Goalkeeper Herb Lehman kept us in this one with 20 awesome saves. The post-game was a lot of fun and WSU proved to be excellent hosts. Thanks for the fun time fellas. WSU: It was a hard fought game though the first half, and was tied 4-4 at half. Despite earning tweleve penalties in the game, our defense played an out standing second half only allowing the Lutes to score once. Mikkelson had an outstanding game scoring six goals. Great game Lutes, and good luck with your season. |

| 506 | L&C 6 - UW 9 | L&C: Well it was a heated battle less the first quarter of play where the huskies jumped to a 5-1 lead. The Pioneers in a less than organized fashion battled back to end the half at 6-4, under the head of the imported coach, Scott Bisell. The Huskies played a great game and the pios 'wish' (no pun intended) them well with the rest of their season. UW: Good win for Huskies who were beat up and tired after the war vs. Oregon the night before. Missing our Senior "Irish" long-poles McKenzie and McGaughran our sophomores led by Drew Voss Nick Hunter and Goalie Nick Pollock got the job on defense done with help from Freshmen Brian Unger Josh Witt Dave Calhoun and Brady Harrington. L & C has some good players especially Boggs and Wilcox on defense and Brian Golub at Middie. Golub is the best face-off man I've seen in this league next to Mikkelson of WSU. Lewis & Clark played us tough and had better intensity than we did. Great job Pios -- see you in Portland for the playoffs! |

| 507 | PLU 9 - Whitman 12 | PLU: The Lutes played the game without their top 2 scorers (tackitt and henderson), but still kept things interesting with strong performances by Berggren 3(2) Johnson 2 and Carroll 2. Senior midfielder Luke Balash dominated face-offs winning 18 of 23 attempts while senior Nate Wolfe moved up to Attack from Defense and chipped in a pseudo-left handed goal. Four rookies started and everyone played significant time on a field layered with 3 inches of sticky mud. Whitman's offense executed extremely well and beat us with stick skills. The score was 5-0 in the second before we woke up and got back in the game. With 5 minutes to go it was 11-9. Whitman tacked on one more goal to put the game out of reach. Considering the circumstances we were very pleased with our performance. Whitman was a great host (thanks for the showers!). Whitman: A classic PLU v. Whitman match up, filled with great play from both teams and four inches of mud. Indeed, this one could've been called ""Mudfest 2000,"" but neither team let that get in the way. Whitman took the early lead in the first as they came out playing solid defense and kept PLU's goalie on his toes. PLU had a strong second quarter, and the score was 7-4 Whitman at halftime. The rest of the game seemed to go back and forth, as PLU answered every Whitman goal with one of its own. Balash did a great job on face-offs for PLU, who might be a force to be reckoned with in D.II come April. The game was close to the wire, but Whitman pulled through in the end, due to a few great saves from goalie Dave Pietka and a couple of sweet goals by super-attackman CJ Calvert. Thank you to PLU for a hard-fought game and good luck to the Lutes the rest of the season. |

| 508 | LMU 2 - SFU 21 | LMU: SFU: Really good game for us. LMU came out pretty strong but we were able to get an early lead and ride that all game. | 509 | Gonzaga 2 - WWU 23 | Gonzaga: WWU: Incredible courage shown on Gonzaga's part in this game. Despite many injuries and a lack of a goalie to start of with the Zags came out playing lacrosse. In fact I do believe that before their official goalie game the stand-in made 4-5 saves with a normal short stick. Thanks for making the road trip up here Gonzaga and its nice to see you back in the league. Good luck with your season and we hope to see you on down the road. |

| 604 | PLU 9 - L&C 12 | PLU: Kudos to Lewis & Clark on a fine game. The Lutes came out hot and were leading 4-2 at the end of the first. L&C came back to tie it 6-6 at the half. With 9 minutes left it was 11-9, but L&C put it out of reach with one more goal and some ball control. Tackitt 3(2) had another fine game offensively for PLU, as did Henderson with 3 goals. L&C beat us with great D-men and man-up offense. The face-offs between Golub and Balash, arguably the two best in the league, were fun to watch, with Golub winning more than his share. Great game pio's & good luck with your season. L&C: It seems as though every Sunday at Griswald Stadium is sunny on game day. The Lutes and the Pioneers had a heated battle on the unforgiving turf. PLU scored 3 quick goals to start the first quarter off and it looked as though the pios were in for a whole lotta trouble. LC fought back though to tie up the game, 6-6, before the half. To start the second half, the pios had to suck up a three minute non-releasable penalty, something about an illegal stick. On top of that, the pios felt as if they had an unfair advantage being man-down so the got an additional 1 minute penalty to bring the defense to 4 brave souls. PLU popped two quickies in to bring the score to LC 9 - PLU 8. PLU played an awesome game! The Pioneers goalie, Colin Flynn, made the difference and lead the pios to a great victory. Good Luck Lutes, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of you! PioLax |

| 801 | Stanford 18 - UW 2 | Stanford: UW: They exposed our deficient stick skills with a clinic on team defense. Stanford is clearly the better team, but we played very poorly and could have competed with them if we had shown up ready to play. I'm very disappointed with our weak showing in front of the nice crowd in Mercer Island's beautiful stadium. Thanks to Coach Bijesse and the Cardinal for making the trip and good luck in the WCLL playoffs. We hope to return the favor with a trip to Palo Alto in 2001. |

| 802 | PLU 13 - Gonzaga 5 | PLU: Gonzaga jumped out to a very quick 2-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game. But the Lutes rebounded with three goals to take a 3-2 lead after the first quarter was over. In the second quarter both defenses stepped up and shut out the offenses, and the score stayed 3-2 into halftime. In the third quarter however PLU started hitting more and more shots and in the end scored 10 goals in the second half, led by Johnson who had an outstanding day with five goals. Two Lutes also scored the first goals of their careers, freshmen Ben Carlson and second year defensiveman Micah Kwiat picked up a short stick and scored a goal. The Zags are a talented group and a lot of fun to play with, thanks for the game guys and good luck the rest of the way. Gonzaga: |

| 803 | Stanford 8 - SFU 17 | Stanford: SFU: We got off to a bad start, being called for a field infraction and being a man down for the first three minutes of the game. Stanford scored three quick goals before we got on the board. However, we were able to score the next 9 to take over the game. Stanford had a strong third quarter, taking advantage of another 3 minute man-up (this time for an illegal stick), but never got closer than 4 goals. Thanks a lot to Stanford for making the trip up and good luck to them back in the WCLL. |
