"One of the nice things about this tournament is the regionality of the teams in attendance," mentioned Fred Wilmot, Shootout Tourney Director. He followed, " it is a testament to the growth in the Northwest, and the increase in skill to have so many players here playing at a high level." The tourney at Starfire Sports brought an estimated 5,000 fans out throughout the weekend, including a plethora of local and college coaches looking on. None of that drove the players who participated, they all wanted to "just play more lax" as one young player from the B.C. Interior echoed. This sentiment was the resounding feeling, and more than 134 games through the weekend made sure that sentiment held through the tourney.
First-time comers from Utah, and Idaho helped balance the mix of Oregon Washington and B.C. teams, while a strong team from Maryland made their way out to play in the Shootout as well. Along with such great participation from the players and their families, Walax.com, Breakaway Sports, Tewaaraton Foundation, Warrior, Gametapes.com, Reaching Growing Throwing, Confusion Lacrosse, Maverik, and the fabulous BBW from Blue Ridge BBQ made the weekend that much better in the vendor village. Strangely, there was no rain, until the last minute things were loaded in the truck. The tourney's success was no doubt due to the excellent support both from the Seattle Starz parents, and the UW Huskies Lacrosse program. Thank you for your tremendous support. Having such strong competition, we would like to thank all the participants on some excellent Lacrosse, great opportunities to play different teams from different areas, and foster relationships with coaches and players alike from all over the country.
