Puget Sound Select - Best in the West - Stars & Stripes Tournament

(Beaverton, OR Oct 7th) The Washington State Puget Sound Select lacrosse team dominated the 2nd annual U. S. Lacrosse Stars and Stripes tournament. They won all three games by beating the Cardinal Elite, Nor Cal Elite and Oregon Elite teams. No small feat considering that the Cardinal Elite team was coached by Michele Uhlfelder, Head Coach at Stanford University and the Nor Cal Elite was coached by Jill Malko former head coach at CAL Berkeley.

The focus of the weekend was not on the select high school teams but rather on the U.S. Elite and U.S. Development lacrosse teams. The official press release stated that: “This is the first time in 30 years that the U.S. Teams have completed or trained on the West Coast. It was more than worth the wait. Competing against the U.S. National Teams were, Stanford, CAL Berkeley and Oregon. These were exhibitions games that featured the best women’s lacrosse talent on planet earth. Michele DeJuliis, and Kristen Kjellman, along with the U.S. Elite Team held a card and poster autograph session Saturday at noon that keep the fans coming for more. The two turf lacrosse fields along with the grass fields at the Tualatin Hill Athletic Center were first rate. It was an amazing weekend (along with the weather) to be part of an historic lacrosse tournament which we hope will not take another 30 years to see again.
