Ithaca Gets a bid! - Matt

ITHACA, NY -- The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team earned a berth in the 12-team NCAA Division III play-offs in an announcement made on Sunday, May 3. The Bombers (11-2) will host Middlebury (10-3) on Wednesday, May 6. Game time has yet to be determined. Ithaca will make its first NCAA appearance since 1992 and its third under current coach Jeff Long. The winner of the Ithaca-Middlebury outing will face two-time defending champion Nazareth on Saturday, May 9, in Rochester.

PLU will be a power in college play next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will PLU have a coach next year? They seemed to be improved this year, but to be a power, they'll need some guidance and organization from a coach.

Tentawon defeated the Pub early in the season then lost to them the PNLA B Division finals so the game this weekend is going to be World War III! This a battle between #1 and #2. Sad Day: Sonics get crushed and the Bombers Blow it....Argh! - Middlebury 16, Ithaca 15 Ithaca, NY -- The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday when the Bombers lost in the first round of the NCAA Play-offs to Middlebury College, 16-15. The game featured 11 ties and was delayed over an hour because of lightning in the area. Ithaca led at the end of each of the first three periods but fell behind 16-13 with 5:52 remaining. Goals by Joe Hope and Jason Pacioni pulled Ithaca within one and the Bombers had the ball in the final minute with a man advantage but could not score. Pacioni finished with a career-best six goals to go with an assists, Michael Seymour had four goals, and E.J. MacCaull had two goals and two assists. Ithaca finished the campaign with an 11-3 record.

Matt-Tough loss for the Bombers. Home field losses are always hard pills to swallow, especially in the playoffs. The Maroons are getting used to losing in the first round. Now that they take 12 teams, maybe we'll get to see more of them! Mike W.

Let's here it for Hampden-Sydney College who not only knocked off W&L and Roanoke this year, but gets to play Washington College @ home in Farmville, VA in the Division 111 quarter finals!! Not bad for the country's last all-mens school in the country. "Where mem are men and women are guests". Go Tigers!!!

Matt/Koransky-My understanding is that the Men's end of season tourney is not going to be at Brentwood Park but some Episcopal(spelling?) school in Oregon that is supposed to be mint. In addition, Mark Flood is having some Oregon HS players do a car wash to help cover costs for their first ever trip to Vail. We should just stick with Portland. Mark Brick -Tentawon Lacrosse

Mark - That is correct. All post season games will be held at Oregon Episcopal School (the same place the tourney was held 2 years ago) and it indeed a nice field. So this should make everyone happy. -Matt

THERE SHOULD BE A 1ST TEAM, 2ND TEAM, AND HONERABLE MENTION. FIRST OF ALL IT GIVES PLAYERS AN EXTRA THING TO STRIVE FOR AND ALSO LETS EVERYBODY KNOW WHO'S THE BEST IN THE PNCLL. Does division III college lacrosse call head checks or cross checks?

Has anyone tried a STX Sniper? It looks pretty irratic.

I agree that there should be all star teams named in the PNCLL. I know that in 1997, they voted at the final four, but nothing was ever announced. I don't think they did it this year, though. Part of the problem might be that the less organized teams don't always have coaches to vote, or don't always send representatives to league meetings held at the end of the year. Better organization would help this. I see that on the WCLL website, coaches and team representatives sent in their all-star nominations to the website, and results were tabulated there. Maybe that could work with us. -SFU

The Sniper sucks!

The Gait brothers are from Victoria, BC. They played their Junior box lacrosse in Esquimalt, which is a suburb of Vancouver. They won one Minto Cup there, the Canadian Junior Championship. They went on to Syracuse University, where they were possibly two of the best college players ever. They both went on to play pro in the MILL (now NLL) and in Canada in the Ontario Lax Association and the Western Lax Association. Gary won the Mann Cup (Canadian Championship) last year playing for the Victoria Shamrocks. One of them was also NLL MVP this year. They are two of the best players in the world right now, and both will be representing Canada at the World Championships in Baltimore next month.

Sorry, I meant to say that Esquimalt was a suburb of VICTORIA.

For those Intereseted right know, the only team that is mathmatically out of the B league tournament is Eugene. The rest of the teams are like this going into the last weekend (according to Wojcicki who has nothing bettter to do) .

College Inn : In, 1rst seed

Tentawon : In, 2nd Seed

Huron: Games left against Steelhead and Tentawon. If they win either of those games they are in. If they lose both, then they need Tentawon to beat WyEast and Wyeast to beat Addeco.

Steelhead: Game left against Huron. Need to win and Addeco loses to WyEast.

Adecco: Game left against WyEast. Ned to beat WyEast and Huron Beat Steelhead.

WyEast: games left against Addeco and Tentawon. Need to win both games and either Tentawon and Steelhead both lose to Huron, or both beat Huron.

If you really want to know exactly, wait until Monday.

The Sniper does not suck! I usually play with a Viper but purchased a Sniper for this season. It has held up well, unlike the Viper which always seems to break in the same spot. The only "different" thing about the Sniper is that the ball actually releases off the shooting strings instead of the head when you are throwing/passing/shooting/etc. It goes right where I want it to and it feels very smooth since it's not hitting the head before the release. The Viper is still my favorite as it is the lightest stick around but I'm not the least bit disappointed with the Sniper (One Shot! One Kill!). Mark Brick, Tentawon Lacrosse

DID WY EAST WIN ON SUNDAY???

Yes, Wy'East beat Multnomah/Adecco on Sunday 6-4. The game was taken over by Brent Soo Hoo's play at Attack; scored 2 goals, 1 assist and one great pick freeing a middie for a goal. Plus he got a lot of ground balls. He did almost lose the game for Wy'East with his failure to keep it in the box during the last 2 minutes. -Wy'Easter

Who won the Steelhead vs. Huron game ???

STEELHEAD GOT LUCKY TO LEAVE TACOMA WITH A 7-5 VICTORY. IT WAS A HARD FOUGHT GAME THOUGHOUT

First of all Steelhead's win was not luck. Second, the score was 10-9 in sudden death overtime.

Why are they not having any games on Sunday to find out 3rd and 4th place in both the A & B leagues. It seems to me that without them, those team will just head home on Sat. and this will take away from the championship games on Sunday.

Unless you finish first, or have the opportunity to do so, nothing else really matters. We had the PNLA tournament for hanging around and spreading NW lacrosse love.

Guess what STX finally released it Octane on the market. Anybody know what it plays like? It looks weird.

Directions: From I-5 South take Hwy 405 to Hwy 26 West (Beaverton). Take the Sylvan exit (at the top of the hill), turn left of exit back over the highway and an immediate right down the hill (Scholls Ferry Rd). Take hill all the way down to the second stop light (Beaverton Hillsdale). Continue straight thru light and go about 1/3 mile to Nicol Rd. Turn left on Nicol Rd (golf course will be on your right) and continue to the end.

Got one people. How do you make a mesh pocket have any whip???? Just got my mesh head, and I need to know cuz its a lot different from my traditional. Appreciate the help, if i get any. Thanks, people

With a mesh pocket, it's all in the way you arrange your shooting strings. Some people I know like to put a "v" sort of design in their pocket with the hockey skate lace strings, along with the traditional hockey lace strings closer to the top of the head. it looks sort of like this:

I don't know if my little drawing was of any help (I'll have to see how it comes out), but I think the key to getting some "whip" is all in how you arrange your shooting strings.

Not a bad job dude. I think that guy will appreciate your art. Here's a tip. Put the bottom of the V about an inch away from you lowest shooting string. Another tip, put more than a "few" shooting strings in, put several hockey laces on the top to make a nice slope, about 5 or 6. 7 is excessive. Someone tell him how to put that V thingy in. WHO MADE UP TO SUMMER LEAGUE RULES ,THEY SUCK!!!!! nO HITTING WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE WOMEN'S LACROOSE AND WHO PLAYS WITH "FAST BREAK" RULES?? WHERE DID THEY FIND THEM?

There is hitting...just no more than a 3 step run at a guy. The reason for this is there are a mix of club players and high school players in the league. We don't want anyone to get too hurt...bruised is fine.

Re: the fast break on penalties. It has been used in past summer leagues and works very well to keep the game moving. Trust me, it works pretty good.
