Seattle Prep vs. Stadium - Game Report

SEATTLE – Seattle Prep senior and Naval Academy commit, Sam Kopf, put up 7 goals and 2 assists on the way to a 17-1 thrashing of Stadium, Monday night in Seattle. The win pushed the Panthers back to .500 on the season with a 4-4 overall record.

The first quarter saw the Panthers barraging the Tiger’s defense with shots and opportunities, but only one goal was scored in the process. Kopf went to work early driving down the left alley for the bouncing finish to put Prep up 1-0.

The Panthers kept up the same tempo in the second quarter, but this time they saw results, racking up four more goals to add on to their lead. Sam Kopf was the story of the first half, scoring the first 4 goals of the game, including the first 3 in the second quarter - all being similar dodges down the left alley to far side finishes. Connor Gossman would get one of his own late in the second off of inside feed from Kopf to put the Panthers up 5-0 heading into half.

The second half was much of the same, with Seattle Prep overwhelming Stadium on both sides of the ball. The Tiger’s defense was aggressive all game, but Prep’s quick ball movement opened up far side and inside opportunities. The Panther’s put up another 7 in the third quarter before Stadium’s Noah Abu-Allan pushed the ball in transition and found senior Spencer Gellner inside to put the Tigers on the board.

Seattle Prep would score another 5 in the fourth quarter to cap off a dominant 17-1 performance. Stadium’s keeper Houston Gray hung in there all game making multiple point blank saves on the door step, but the Panther’s offense was clicking on all cylinders and buried the Tiger’s defense in the end. Seattle Prep’s Bennett Ling would log an 80% save on the game – a season high.

Seattle Prep (4-4) takes on a tough Woodinville (9-2) squad next, while Stadium (1-3) battles it out with conference rival Gig Harbor (6-0) on the 22nd.
