Palo Verde (NV) vs. Claremont (BC) - Game Report

MERCER ISLAND – Claremont (CAN) scored the first 10 goals of the game on the way to a big 18-6 victory over Palo Verde (NV), Sunday morning at the Northwest Invitational.

The 2014 Space Needle Shootout Champions didn’t miss a step as their quick ball-movement and elusive offensive schemes opened up the Palo Verde defense and allowed for high-percentage inside shots all game long. It wasn’t until late in the second quarter, when Panthers’ midfielder Chase Bradshaw stopped the bleeding and put Palo Verde on the board.

The teams were even on the goal side in the 3rd, with both teams putting up 2, including a well-executed fast-break transition from the d-pole to attackman connection on the crease for a Spartan’s goal. The Claremont keeper was zoned in, making point-blank saves and quickly turning to the midfielders for aggressive clears all game.

Palo Verde was able to notch 3 more in the 4th, including an under-hand lazer from Bradley Simoncelli midway through the quarter, but it wasn’t enough to stop a potent Claremont offense, and the Spartans walked away with a 4-1 record on the weekend.
