Lakeside vs. Blanchet - Game Report

SEATTLE - Seniors Michael Drucker and Matt Bell both put up a pair of goals in an early rout for Lakeside, securing a 9-4 win against Blanchet on Wednesday.

The Lions’ stiff defensive play through all 48 minutes was the difference in this game, shutting out the Braves in the first half. Haverford College commit, Jake Ephron, lead the Lakeside D, scooping up 12 groundballs, dishing out 2 assists, and capping it off with a fast-break goal late in the third.

Lions’ senior attackman, Peter Bromley got into the scoring mix with a goal of his own off a Blanchet turnover early in the second half, and then attackman, Matt Bell put away 1 of his 2 goals inside on the crease. Lakeside won the face-off battle allowing for a majority of the time of possession throughout the game, and on the defensive end, their aggressive ride made it difficult for the Braves to get the ball up the field.

Things started to click for Blanchet in the fourth quarter though, when junior Phil Ward buried 2 goals, including a text-book finish off a right to left split dodge from the side of the box. Midfiedler, Jeremy Facer and attackman, Finn Jelinek also buried a goal a piece, but it was too late for the Braves, as the Lion’s dominate play early proved to be too much. Stingy defensive play, and precise ball movement allowed the Lions to walk away from Wednesday evening with a 9-4 victory – their first of the season.
