Game Recap: Skyline vs Towson (MD)
Skyline and Baltimore-native head coach Sam Hutson traveled yesterday to the Charm City for their spring break. After a good night's sleep, they had practice at Loyola Blakefield, of which Coach Hutson is an alumnus. Later that day, they played Towson High School.
The first quarter was an even match, with both squads registering one point. If it seemed that Skyline showed they could play with the old guard in the first quarter, they took it to another level in the second, winning the quarter 4-2. The third quarter was another draw, and Skyline carried a 6-4 lead in to the fourth. Towson stepped up their game immensely in the fourth, winning the quarter 4-1 and the game by 1 goal. Charlie Kurtenbach paced the scoring with 3 goals and 1 assist, while Kyle Kuberski came up with 11 saves in goal. Final score: Towson 8 - Skyline 7.
Tomorrow, the Spartans will attend a St.Paul's - McDonough MIAA lacrosse game. Without a doubt, the MIAA is the most competitive high school league in the country. McDonough is ranked 5th in the country, and St. Paul's 17th. Saturday, they will take on Gerstell Academy, and afterward will be attending a NCAA Division 1 lacrosse game. This, however, is no ordinary NCAA lacrosse game. This is the Yankees-Red Sox of college lacrosse- The University of Maryland Terrapins at the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays. All in all, Skyline's spring break has been and should continue to be a great opportunity to experience the game at its highest level firsthand.
Have fun Spartans, good luck Saturday, and we will see you next week!
