FOR NATIONALS 2000!
Northwest
Women�s Lacrosse has come a long way. Evidence
of this was seen at selections for the National tournament held at the PNLA
tournament in Portland last week. The
National Tournament, held this year in Longmeadow, MA takes place each Memorial
Weekend. Highly competitive, the
Nationals Tournament give all-star teams from each region an opportunity to play
against other regional teams. It is a great chance to play at top level and see others
doing the same. This year, players
will also get the opportunity to see the US Squad and the Developmental teams
play in an exhibition game.
Early
Sunday morning at PNLA, I felt like I was somewhere in Maryland or Virginia as I
walked onto Delta field 1. The
place swarmed with players warming up for what was to be the first time our
selections involved the development of two teams. It is a good feeling to be part of the growth of women�s
lacrosse here in the Pacific Northwest. Delta
field was charged with great players getting out there for the love of the
sport. Despite the mild confusion
set off by selectors, everyone who tried out put forth their best effort, which
made for a great morning! It was a
new feeling to observe college players anxious to make the team, many of whom I
did not see play all season.

said and done, we managed to form two well-stocked teams to compete at Nationals
in Longmeadow, MA over Memorial Weekend:
