September 22, 2002: The PNLA "A" League met on Sunday to discuss the upcoming 2003 season and a few things were decided. Below are the meeting notes from David Van Noy, League President:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The PNLA league meeting went quite well last night, thank you to those who were able to attend. Some of the things we decided upon:

  1. We will adopt the International Club Lacrosse Rules as our playing rules. These rules are posted on the International Lacrosse Federations website
  2. The League has budgeted in $360 for allocation to D&O Insurance, protecting league officers and team management from insurance liability.
  3. There are two new teams in the Seattle area, playing in the A-Division. They are Crease Monkeys NW, led by Fred Wilmot and Ian O-Hern, and Sound LC, headed up by Matt Sauri and Brad Coulter. These teams will be on probation their first year in the league.
  4. Probation for the two new teams means that they must make all games, no forfeits, otherwise they are not eligible for the playoffs and potentially eligible for league fines
  5. A league rule was adopted that if any team forfeits a game during the season then they are not eligible for the post season playoffs.
  6. The League has budgeted in $500 for the position of two Referee Schedulers (Oregon and Washington), to be named later. Anyone want to step up or nominate someone?
  7. The PNLA Seattle area teams will throw a League Fundraiser, proceeds going to US Lacrosse for local youth benefit. This will be a big bash with a band, drinks, etc. Matt Sauri and Fred Wilmot will be initial Party-Throwing Committee. Email them and offer your help.
  8. Seattle area teams will budget for new goals to be kept at Queen Anne Bowl.
  9. The League is going to make a concerted effort to curb the profanity and referee abuse we occasionally poorly display. A request will be made to the referees to throw the flag more often to keep our mouths in check. We are the best teams in the NW and it is our duty to act in an utmost professional manner, there are families and kids watching...
  10. The A League Schedule is now located on walax.com. This is the official schedule and any changes must be coordinated by the home team with the visiting team. Everyone plays every other divisional team twice.
  11. For Seattle Area teams, we are going to get as much field time as possible for QA Bowl, outside of that home teams are responsible for scheduling their fields.
  12. Dejon (Blue Collar) made the fine note that some teams in the league do not provide appropriate, if any at all, post game libations. Teams must make the effort to provide appropriate post game refreshments and an interesting place to consume them  following each home game.
  13. The Squamish Nation (Vancouver) would like to schedule home and away exhibition games with teams for the 2003 season, with the hopes of officially joining the league in 2004. To schedule games with them, contact Sam Seward

Lets get psyched for another outstanding season! Email or call me with any questions or concerns.

Thank You,

David Van Noy
