| Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the
premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced a joint event
marketing partnership with Stadium Management Company (SMC), the wholly
owned subsidiary of the Denver Broncos, according to MLL Chief Operating
Officer, David Gross. As part of the MLL's Wild West Tour, the joint
initiative will bring the world's best lacrosse players to INVESCO Field at
Mile High in Denver, CO, featuring a rematch of last season's post-season
contest between the New Jersey Pride and the Baltimore Bayhawks at 7:30 p.m.
(MT) on Saturday, June 5, 2004.
There is no doubt that interest in lacrosse in Denver is growing rapidly and we're excited to see how the market responds to the professional outdoor game," said Pat Bowlen, CEO and President of the Denver Broncos and Stadium Management Company. "The MLL has an exciting product and we look forward to a great day of lacrosse at the stadium!" "The best players in the world play in Major League Lacrosse, that's what sets us apart from other startup leagues," said MLL Founder Jake Steinfeld, CEO of Body by Jake Global. "Along with our great sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch, New Balance, Gatorade, Joe Boxer, and 24-Hour Fitness, we also strive to find the best partners off the field. Pat Bowlen and his team are the kind of folks we want to be associated with - first class professional sports operators and marketers who can make Major League Lacrosse successful in their own back yard. We're looking forward to partnering with Pat and his team to bring MLL lacrosse to an awesome venue like INVESCO Field. It's going to be a great event!" The Wild West Tour is part of "Project West Coast", the MLL's latest exploratory expansion initiative, and hopes to match the nationwide growth of Major League Lacrosse by adding a West Coast Division of at least four new teams by the start of the 2006 season. Markets under consideration include Austin, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix/Tucson, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco/San Jose, Sacramento and Seattle. For 2008 there is a hope to add an additional 2 teams making a total of 12 MLL franchises. On May 22nd the MLL will be in Seattle! Read more about it!
