Please take the time to read all the information here, and direct any questions to Brendan Blakeley. Try and get your registration forms submitted in as timely a manner as possible.
REGISTRATION The Tournament fee is $325 for college and club level teams, and $275 for high school teams. $75 of every entry fee is non-refundable, in the case of a team dropping out. All checks should be made payable to "UC REGENTS". Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-registered basis, so register now. Sending in the registration form does not guarantee a spot in the tournament.
FORMAT College/Club Divisions: There will be four pools, each with eight teams. Please select which division you think would be most appropriate for your team. High School Divisions: There will be 2 separate high school divisions, each with 8 teams. In the event that not enough high school teams sign up to fill the two high school divisions, we reserve the right to adjust brackets and schedules accordingly. GAMES Tournament games will consist of two 25-minute halves. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, with the top teams in each division playing a fifth game to determine the divisional champion. All games will be at various locations on the UCD campus. Maps will be sent out once teams have been accepted into the tournament. All games will be played on natural grass. OFFICIALS Please notify your team's local officials about this tournament. They should receive a mailing regarding this tournament early in 2001, but the earlier they can plan to attend the better. STAFF/PERSONNEL There will be athletic trainers on hand throughout the tournament. They will be available to care for injured athletes. They will not provide supplies, nor will they be available for taping. Ice will be available. Water will be available at every field. The tournament will provide staff at each field to take care of timekeeping and scorekeeping duties. There will also be staff on hand at the tournament desk to record game results, etc. INCLEMENT WEATHER The University reserves the right to postpone or cancel the tournament, should field conditions warrant such action. If needed, games will be adjusted or cancelled. TRAVEL The nearest airport to UC DAVIS is the Sacramento Metro Airport (20 minutes from UCD). The next closest airport is in Oakland (1:15 hours away). San Francisco and San Jose airports are also options, but are farther away (1:30-2:30 hours away, depending on traffic). Please do not book flights until your team has been confirmed as entered into the tournament. Simply sending in your registration form does not mean your team is in the tournament! ACCOMMODATIONS Enclosed is a list of area hotels. Please make sure to mention you will be participating in the tournament when making your reservations. A list of eating establishments will be sent out with an acceptance packet. There are other conferences and meetings on campus that weekend, so please book your hotel rooms as early as possible.
