It's Official! Mercer Island Middie Chris Taylor will attend Georgetown University and play Lacrosse for Coach Urick as a Hoya Midfielder.  Earlier this Fall, Chris had verbally commited early to Georgetown after entertaining offers from several other Lacrosse powerhouses.

Press Release: Georgetown's Men ink 10 for 2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. The Georgetown University mens lacrosse team has announced that ten student-athletes have signed the National Letter of Intent, committing to join the Hoyas in the fall of 2005.

Five of the athletes originate from Maryland. Brennan Kelly, a defensemen from the McDonogh School, will help to contribute. Phil Mufarrij, Stoddert Nibley, Jake Samperton, and Scott Smith, will join Georgetown after graduating from the Landon School. Mufarrij and Smith will be helping the Hoyas on defense, while Nibley is a midfielder, and Samperton plays attack.

The Hoyas also signed two recruits from New York, with Jordan Loftus and Cullen Molinari joining Georgetown. Loftus, who plays attack, is a student from Immaculate Heart Central. Molinari is a midfielder from Manhasset High School.

Rounding out the mix is Stephen Bauer, Todd Cochran, and Chris Taylor. Bauer, a defender, is a student at The Peddie School in New Jersey. Cochran, a midfielder, is a student at Conestoga High School in Pennsylvania. Taylor is from Mercer Island High School in Washington State and plays midfield.

The 2005 Hoyas begin their season on Saturday February 26 when the Hoyas travel to Maryland. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

His Georgetown acceptance marks the first break into the top 20 programs in Division I Lacrosse for Washington Lacrosse players, and further validates other exceptional Washington Lacrosse players in D1 and D3 programs around the nation.  Not to be dissuaded from this year's MI focus on another phenomenal season, Taylor is a hard-worker and tremendous athlete who will carry our support to Georgetown with him.

Chris will also follow what was possibly the hottest recruiting class of the year, this year.  According to Inside Lacrosse, 11 members of the class of 2008 will help Georgetown make a bid at The Show.

Highlighting the incoming class are three players honored by Inside Lacrosse as being one of the best at their positions in the nation. First is midfielder Scott Kahoe (Villanova, Pa./Radnor), who is 64, 200 lbs. and a top-notch overall athlete. He played football, basketball and lacrosse for Radnor and was recruited heavily in all three sports, selecting Georgetown in the end for lacrosse. Another middie Dan DAgnes (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) was one of the most highly recruited players in the country at midfield. DAgnes is another player with tremendous athleticism. Similar to Kahoe, DAgnes was a multi-sport star at Chaminade and was a potential Division I football player along with lacrosse. The final piece of the three players highlighted by the magazine was arguably the top goalie in the nation, Miles Kass (Rye, N.Y./Hotchkiss (Conn.)). Kass is another large presence on the field, standing 62, 190 lbs. and joins Kahoe and DAgnes as a star in multiple sports for his high school. He was a lacrosse All-American as both a junior and senior and is a great communicator on the field.
