Maple Valley, May 31, 2004:

Former Maple Valley Lacrosse Club standout Brian Johnson was recently honored for his hard work with the Sonoma State University Seawolves by being selected to the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League's "A" Division All-Star Third Team in the midfield position.  Johnson, completing his sophomore year at SSU majoring in Kinesiology, was fourth in scoring for the Seawolves with 25 goals and 5 assists for 30 points overall.  SSU finished a very strong 17 - 4 season, good for a semifinal berth at the US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates Championship Tournament in St. Louis and a 4th place ranking overall in the final 2004 USLIA national polls.  In Tournament play, Johnson garnered 5 goals and 2 assists in leading the Seawolves over Missouri and Arizona before falling to eventual USLIA Champions and #1 ranked UC Santa Barbara.  Prior to his All-Star selection for the 2004 campaign, Johnson was named the Seawolves' 2003 Rookie of the Year as a freshman.  A high school standout, Johnson led Maple Valley to Washington State Division "B" championships in 1999 and 2000 and was named to the 2001 All-State Division "A" second team and to the 2002 All-State Division "A" first team at the attack position, where he led all Division "A" scorers with 53 goals and 18 assists for 71 total points while leading the Vandals to its first Division "A" playoff berth.  Brian is the son of Craig and Vonnie Johnson of Maple Valley.
