UW
Womens Lacrosse Wins Championship Title
The University of
Washington Womens Lacrosse team claimed its second
consecutive title as the Northwest College Club
Champions last Saturday, April 19. The UW defeated
Whitman College in the finals 11-1 after Western
Washington and Whitman battled in a double overtime
semi-final match.
The first ever
Northwest College Club Championships were held at
Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. For a bid to
nationals in St.Louis, Missouri, it is required that
the league consists of at least eight teams. Five
dedicated teams joined the WDIA this year in attempt
to bring northwest lacrosse to a national level:
University of Washington, University of Oregon,
Pacific Lutheran University, Whitman College, and
Western Washington University.
. This marked the
beginning of a new era of northwest womens college
lacrosse, as it continues to strive for national
recognition.
