The sport of lacrosse is booming in
the state of Washington and with it the demand for introductory options
for adults. Many of us have heard
a dozen times, "Man,
I wish they would have had lacrosse at my school when I was growing
up.my kid is now playingit looks like such a great sport. Well,
the PNLA Mens Club League, Walax.com and the Washington Lacrosse
Foundation are teaming up to try and bring the great game of lacrosse to
interested adult men. Soccer has intro camps and leagues for adults;
its now time for lacrosse!
Update#2: 04/30/05
Wow!
What a difference a month makes! I haven't seen some of the 'C'
league players since the first session, but with coaches such as Kris
Snider, Matt Cone, Mark Brick and Scott Carlin, I saw tremendous
improvement. Always working on the fundamentals in practice, the
best part of watching these guys is their focus. After doing some
line drills, and some 1v1s, 2v2s, and transition, we wet for some
scrimmage. I saw dodges, good communication and some acrobatics.
I think these guys are going to play through the summer and the winter-
and will be the basis of a 'C' league next year without a doubt.
We have some photos of the action...stay tuned for the last week of
practice which will be a full game!

Update#1: 04/03/05
Strolling up in the pouring rain, 38
men with varied experience in Lacrosse including some coaches, referees,
parents, and some who had seen it before- started their own Lacrosse
careers. It seemed fitting, that each of these guys came out
despite the rain to get indoctrinated into the biggest fraternity ever.
Each had their own reasons to come out and try something new, and the
ages varied quite a bit as well. One thing was common amongst
these guys- the desire to play.
With seven coaches
focused on developing different aspects in a group setting, the
beginners who had some experience worked on moving the ball, while brand
new players picked up the fundamentals as fast as the 5 year olds we
have all seen. By the end of practice, catching, throwing, ground
balls and the weave were natural talents and each player realized "this
isn't as hard as I thought". Additionally, there is something to
the fact that these guys are making history. This will be the
first graduating class of 'C' League Lacrosse players, made right here
in Seattle's Kitchen by current and former men's club players.
Once these men complete the clinic, they will play summer league, and
fall league with the hopes of forming the first two men's 'C' teams in
Seattle next spring! Stay tuned for an update from the field next
week! Bring it to 'em Hughby!
