PNCLL Leader Board: Play-offs Take Shape

Headline News
  Washington Lacrosse News

Though not a true indicator of league standing, the offenses of UW and PLU loom like eerie shadows on the Points top 10 for the 'A' division with five players on the top 10 points board.

Washington is sitting pretty atop a 3-0 divisional record looking down a home game against Western Friday at 6:30pm, this will serve as an appetizer to the firefight that will ensue from a trip down to Duck territory on April 9th...two PNCLL super powers will collide.  This may be the game to get the Ducks back on track, or Washington to stomp those ambitions.  Honestly, the 'A' division is not all that strong outside UW, SFU, OSU and UO, so plan on catching games when they happen..

This week may well be a turning point in the season for the 'B' division as the playoff picture begins to shape up.  Of the seven spots available in the 'B' division, three have all but been locked down by the likes of Linfield (5-0), Puget Sound (3-0) and Montana (3-0).  UPS and UM will also have to go through PLU to get there.  Meanwhile PLU, despite their slightly tarnished record at 3-1, holds 5 of the top 10 point positions through this week.

The five other teams vying for playoff contention include:

Pacific Lutheran 3-1
Whitman 3-1
Central Washington 5-3
Western Oregon 3-3
Western Washington 2-3

PLU will play Montana in an important game, while UPS will battle Central Washington.  Victories for either PLU or Central could be monumental and would create some uncertainty.  Out of this mix, Western Washington may be the only team looking for a chair.  Pulling a couple key wins out in the next two weeks may be their salvation.

The Quarter-finals kick off April 23rd at the top seeded teams' home field.  More information on the playoffs can be found here: http://www.pncll.com/2005/playoffs.cfm

Whether or not SFU makes it to the playoffs, they were awarded the 2005 Final Four which will take place at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West April 30th & May 1st, 2005.
