LOS ANGELES, CA March 12, 2005 Lax Scout
(www.laxscout.com), an organization dedicated to helping high school
student-athletes gain widespread exposure to college lacrosse coaches,
announced today the official opening of registration for its
recruiting service in 2005. The announcement was made at The First 4,
the biggest collegiate lacrosse event the West Coast has ever seen.
I couldnt have asked for a better venue to
announce the launch of Lax Scouts registration for 2005, commented
Christopher Deutsch, Lax Scouts President and Founder. The First 4
is the perfect event to kick off the college lacrosse season, and to
have it in California is such a great opportunity to showcase the
sport to a lax-hungry audience.
Lax Scout is the exclusive recruiting service and
an official event sponsor of The First 4. As part of the sponsorship,
Lax Scout will be selecting four Underclassman MVP student-athletes
from the four high school competitions, which will be played earlier
in the day. Lax Scouts team of professional Scouts will be on hand
all day to watch the games and evaluate the best talent on the field.
The presentation for the Underclassman MVP awards
will be given at half time of the first collegiate match-up between
North Carolina and Notre Dame. Lax Scouts Southern California
Scouting Coordinator, Tillman Johnson, will present the awards.
Johnson, currently a professional player in Major League Lacrosse and
a recent graduate of the University of Virginia, was named the best
player in the nation after he helped lead his team to victory in the
2003 NCAA national championship. Im very happy to be a part of Lax
Scout, Johnson noted. This is a great opportunity for players on
the West Coast to gain much needed visibility to the top Division I,
II and III coaches throughout the nation. In addition to his
involvement with Lax Scout, Johnson is also a member of Brines
product development team. Brine is providing the four scholarships to
Lax Scout, which will be awarded to the four Underclassman MVPs at the
First 4.
