Danish National Men's Lacrosse Team added to 2006 World Cup
Competition
The Danish Lacrosse Federation announced today that it has
been elevated to full member nation status by the International
Lacrosse Federation (ILF) and thus is now eligible to participate in
the upcoming ILF World Cup of Lacrosse to be held in Ontario, Canada
during the summer of 2006. Denmark was added to the ILF as a full
member nation along with Finland, the Netherlands and Italy at the
recently held ILF meetings in Prague concurrent with the European
Championships.
"We are very proud to become full members of the ILF and look forward
to competing against the world's best in 2 years in Canada" said Janus
Herholdt, President of the DLF, "This accomplishment is the result of
lot of hard work by the DLF to grow the sport of lacrosse here in
Denmark over the past few years."
Concurrently, the DLF also announced the appointment of Matt Cone as
head coach of the Danish National Men's lacrosse team for the upcoming
World Cup. Matt is the former head lacrosse coach at Seattle Prep HS
and is a founder of the Crease Monkeys World Team.
The Danish National Team will train the next 2 years in Copenhagen and
plans to participate in various warm-up tournaments in Europe next
summer leading up to the 2006 World Cup. Interested players with
Danish Passports are encouraged to visit the DLF website at
www.danishlacrosse.com to
