Garfield Lacrosse Team is moving into its
third season. We have come a long way (in two short seasons) in
building a strong and committed team. Our JV team last year brought in
some new players to the team this year and next. The Varsity team is
pumped and ready to start the season. We have already met to discuss
fund raising ideas and to catch up on some off-season lacrosse
experiences.
We suffer from many of the same problems that
plague other young inner city club teams: Not enough money, and the
lack of a home field to dedicate the teams efforts and time. But we
more than make up for it by having our same terrific coaching staff
again this year: Chris Honeycutt (head coach), Ryan Kelly, and
Kristian Erickson. We are looking to hire a JV coach for this season.
(see job listing)
The Garfield Lacrosse Team players come from
at least 5 different area high schools (ODea, Bush, Northwest,
Ballard and Garfield), with most of the players coming from Garfield
High School. We do not lack in talent and energy. The Garfield
Lacrosse Team Bulldogs will be a team to be reckoned with in the 2004
season.
