Team Washington tryouts - February 5th & 12th, 2015
Team Washington Lacrosse, a 501c3 non-profit organization since 1999, will be holding tryouts on Thursday, February 5th and Thursday, February 12th, at the University of Washington - Dempsey Center (indoor facility). The tryouts are for all current 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th grade boys lacrosse players (for the 2014/2015 school year). Each player will be eligible for one of 6 teams:
Team Washington 2016's (The Chinooks) - rising seniors - 2 tournaments and 1 local tournament
Team Washington 2017's (The Sockeyes) - rising juniors - 2 travel tournaments and 1 local tournament
Team Washington 2018's (The Cohos) - rising sophomores - 2 travel tournaments and 1 local tournament
Team Washington 2019's (The Chums) - rising freshman - 1 travel tournament and 1 local tournament
Team Washington 2016's/2017's (The Cutthroats) - rising seniors & juniors - 1 travel tournament and 1 local tournament
Team Washington 2018's/2019's (The Steelheads) - rising sophomores & freshman - 1 travel tournament and 1 local tournament
Each of these 6 teams will be made up of the best 20-22 players from across the state. All six teams will travel in June and July to participate in the best summer recruiting tournaments in the country. Team Washington Lacrosse operates on four core philosophies:
1. The best coaches in the state: Team WA has the Head Coaches from Bainbridge, Bellevue, Issaquah, Juanita, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Newport, Skyline, Tahoma & Woodinville on their staff. Every Washington state championship for the past 17 years has been won by one of these coaches.
2. Traveling to the best tournaments in the country: The Team WA coaching staff firmly believes that the only way to get better is to play the best competition. That is why Team WA almost exclusively travels back east for all of their events, and only attends the hardest and most prestigious tournaments.
3. Coach nominated tryouts: Many summer/regional travel teams will offer "open tryouts", in an attempt to make more money from the tryout fees. Team WA is exclusively "coach nominated", meaning you can only be invited to tryout if your high school coach nominates you. This process eliminates the politics & profiting element, while insuring the most competitive tryout possible.
4. The best exposure to college coaches: A combination of the best coaches, the best players and the best tournaments, culminates with the best possible exposure for players interested in playing in college. The 10 different high school programs represented on our coaching staff has by far the largest amount of alumni playing NCAA lacrosse in college from WA. This vast network of alumni connections and coaching relationships is the best college recruiting resource in the state of Washington.
Participation with Team Washington will not interfere or conflict with any summer high school lacrosse activities. Once the final roster of 20-22 players per class has been selected by our staff, all of the teams will practice together through June and into July. If you would like to participate in the 2015 Team Washington Lacrosse tryouts, please have your high school head coach, or 7th/8th grade head coach (for rising 9th graders/2019's), email their nomination* to: [email protected]
