Quarterfinal Preview

The next round of the WHSBLA division 1 playoffs takes place tonight (Thursday, May 22nd). Tahoma, Issaquah, Bellevue & Eastside Catholic are all hosting a quarterfinal game. All games start between 7:00pm and 7:30pm. Here's a quick rundown of the match-ups :

Eastside Catholic vs Mercer Island 7PM Eastside Catholic HS

Eastside Catholic comes in perfect on the season, while Mercer Island has lost a total of 3 games on the season, by a total of 5 goals. Both teams have future NCAA players, and play a fast and athletic brand of the game. This is a championship level matchup already in the early rounds. Don’t miss this one!!

Tahoma vs Bainbridge 7:30 PM Tahoma HS

Bainbridge came back from a late deficit against Skyline to reach this round. Tahoma has been a strong performer all year in conference, and has also shown well out of conference. Tahoma is definitely getting one of the tougher second round matchups in Bainbridge, who have improved throughout the season, have found ways to win games, and are playing with increasing confidence.

Bellevue vs Auburn Riverside 7PM Bellevue HS

Auburn Riverside travels to Bellevue to face a team that’s been hot lately. A team with a lot of preseason expectations, Bellevue has seen freshmen chip in of late and has evolved into a team with strength all over the field and depth. Auburn Riverside will need great games from NCAA-committed Lucchesi brothers and Dane Barber.

Issaquah vs Emerald Ridge-Puyallup 7PM Issaquah HS

Issaquah has been something of a surprise in securing a bye in the first round. Puyallup defeated Wesco/NW’s Bellingham by a few goals. Puyallup was the third seed to come out of the SPSL, and until their win last week, had their share of difficulties in non-conference matchups.
