Frank hits OT winner as King’s Way downs Eastside Catholic

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clayton Frank scored with just 20 seconds remaining in overtime to lift King’s Way to a 14-13 boys high school lacrosse win over Eastside Catholic, Friday before about 400 fans at the King’s Way Christian School in Vancouver. The win came after King’s Way mounted a seven-goal run to erase a 13-6 Eastside Catholic lead early in the fourth lifting the Knights to 3-0 on the season. Frank’s goal came on a man-up situation after Eastside Catholic’s Jeff Foreman was whistled for a slash with 24 seconds to go.

Just four seconds later, Frank took a pass from the Knights’ Jack Beall and beat Crusaders’ goaltender Colin Schriever with a 12 yarder that ricocheted off the left pipe and into the net to preserve King’s Way’s unbeaten record early in the season.

With Eastside Catholic holding a comfortable 12-6 lead heading into the final quarter, the Crusaders appeared to be cruising for the road win as junior Colin MacIlvennie opened fourth-quarter scoring at 10:11 with a shot past Knights’ goaltender Conrad Littlefield for make it 13-6.

But that would be all for the visiting Crusaders as with just over nine minutes remaining King’s Way launched a comeback with Conner Dyehouse hitting the first of seven unanswered fourth-quarter goals by the Knights.

Dyehouse then capped the run with just 3:39 remaining to knot the game at 13-13.

In the final minute-and-a-half of play, King’s Way’s Jack Beal and Eric Evans were both whistled for penalties, Beal with a slash and Evans with hold, to put the Knights down by two men.  But King’s Way successfully killed-off the penalties with Littlefield coming up with three critical saves in the final minute of play.

Frank finished the game with five goals, two assists and 13 ground balls, while Dyehouse, Brian Prigmore and Jack Beall all had three apiece for King’s Way.  Littlefield finished with 13 saves.
